I know that Federal had a recall on the Champion .45 but is Winchester having the same issue? Every Wally World I've been to in Houston has no .45 outside of the steel Tulammo stuff that the range won't let us use.

Ouch! So much for building a stockpile.

I've noticed that also. When everyone was looking for .380 there were .45's most of the time. Now when I check, there are always .380 and no .45'S.

I was home sick a couple of weeks ago and called 9 wal-marts non had any WWB .45. I had already been by 3 the previous week.

I ended up ordering 1k rounds online, shipped to the house I paid .406 per round.

I agree on the .45 shortage. I have found .45s at academy in several brands, but you weren't paying less than $21 a box. I also picked up some reloads at the pasadena gun show, but they won't be back in pasadena for a while.

I reloaded 300 rounds of .45 this afternoon.

I've been in a couple of stores lately and have seen several different brands of FMJ and HP. The gun show a couple of weeks ago had everything you can imagine. As for online I haven't seen a problem at all.

Just my two cents worth...I have heard that the major ammo companies run production in lots. They crank out one or a couple of calibers for a while, then switch it up. Some calibers are more popular and are in the rotation more often...some are less popular and may only get rotated in once in a while or once a year, or maybe even less frequently. I'm sure demand plays into this regarding the most popular calibers. With all the massive purchases of ammo we've had in the last couple of years, some factories have put on extra shifts and extended hours...so, for instance, they crank out a bunch of .45 and send it out to the companies that have orders in with them...then they get feedback that there is a huge demand for .380, so they crank that out for however long...meanwhile, that previous batch of .45, distributed to who knows how many places, gets purchased up...and the cycle starts again...however, for SOME calibers, say 9 mm and 5.56/.223, those get run all of the time, or very often, due to military/police contracts (all they have to do since the dies/tooling is set up is change cases, bullets, powders). I'm sure I've got the details wrong, but that is how I understood it as I read it. Anyone else is free to correct me if this is way wrong, or to add to it if I'm in the ballpark.

Maybe all the .380 owners got smart and figured out they needed to get a REAL gun and caliber??

Academy in Grapevine had plenty of 9mm & .45 acp this week.

I haven't really noticed a supply problem in the Arlington / Ft. Worth area for awhile. Ive been able to locate everything from WWB at Wally World to Corbon, Buffalo Bore and Speer at local stores; ie. Cabelas, Winchester and others.
