The Mrs. and I went to First Monday yesterday. We like to visit the "junk" area the most, you can find some really cool stuff that you don't really "need" for a great deal on those tables. We were looking at one vendor's wares and I noticed a shoping cart full of Bowling pins for $3 each. I remembered hearing about bowling pin matches and how much fun people say they are to shoot. I walked away with a case of ten for $20. By the way huffin' a full set of bowling pins a 1/2 mile back to the truck in 100+ heat in the direct sun is TUFF.
I've got my own range, just don't go much in this heat. For those with experience, what are some good ways to waste some $2 bowling pins? I though about using them instead of B27's for practicing drills.
Thoughts, suggestions?

To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic-TN

Re: Bowling Pins
You will be surprised how much fun you can have with them. We have placed them in differing positions and then tried to shoot just certain ones from a fixed place. Kinda like shooting around non-shoots.
Also, you can paint different colors on them. Have the SO call out a color. Then you have to draw and shoot just that color.
Have fun....

Re: Bowling Pins
If you have a bowling alley nearby, walk in and ask if you can buy a box of old pins. The alleys replace the pins as they get worn out or damaged & you can usually get them pretty cheaply.

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

Sounds fun. My GF said she wants to shoot something that will fall over, rather than just paper. This sounds a lot cheaper than steel targets.
Re: Bowling Pins
for the price you'll be amazed how much damage they can withstand. Lots of enjoyment for a small price. I've never competed but what Andy said is true. They are great practice in getting solid hits.
