I've been trying to get my wife to come shoot with me for about 4-5 years. She is the kind of girl who likes pedicures and 800 thread count sheets on vactaion! She has never been anti-gun...just had a "guns are for guys" sorta mentatlity.
I bought a new Kahr CM9 for pocket carry in the summer and wanted to take it to the range for it's 200 round break in. Asked the wife, like always, do you want to go? She agreed...much to my chagrin! So yesterday morning...off we went.
I started her off with my 9mm Smith & Wesson Sigma. It has the longest barrel and figured it would be lighter on the recoil than my SA XD-SC9 or the new Kahr. She shot one magazine and was all over the board but had a smile. Handed her the XD and she put about 12/16 inside the black of a 6" target. She was hooked. She proceeded to put about 150 more rounds down range with all 3 9mm guns. She loved the feel of the Kahr, but just couldn't find any accuracy with it. I let her shoot a 50 round CHL qualifying course on a sillhouette. She shot 202/250. Knowing that it takes 175 to qualify for CHL, now she starts asking about classes! She's hooked. On the way out of the store, she checks all of the holster purses! My ammo bill just increased...but she's ready to take the next step! Awesome!!!
