FORT WORTH, Texas -- A bobcat sighting has Fort Worth animal control officers putting out traps and warning residents to stay away from the animals, NBC 5 reported.
A teenager said he was walking his dog Thursday night when he was cornered by two bobcats in the 800 block of Scarlet Sage Court.
The wild animals scattered when police arrived.

that's funny. makes them sound like they are criminals. i was working when we had a mountain lion problem in the metro area. it killed one of our detective's dogs, who lived in the city. it got pretty ridiculous. every loose cat within the city limits prompted a call from a citizen who claimed to see this mountain lion. i don't know how anyone can mistake a cat for a mountain lion. i grew tired pretty fast of that.
at night, you see all kinds of stuff. i worked in a very metro area, and i saw several foxes, possums, racoons, etc. there was a whole family of racoons that ate so good they could barely stuff themselves into the drainage holes. one night at 2am i saw two coyotes in the fast lane of a major roadway, just cruising down the road like they owned the place, before they ran a red light and took a left. :) there was a roost near the river where wild turkeys were always flying around.

We've had bobcats for years where I work here in Irving. Pretty to look at and have never caused any problems.

I did a little searching and found another account of the incident, as well as a photo of the teenager:
Lions and Tigers and Bears..............OH MY!
Poor city folks.

There is one(or more) that lives in that pasture at 287& sublet...if you go to that grocery store, you see them cross the road all the time.

I saw a pretty large bobcat DOI on the side of the road a few days ago near Precinct Line and Randol Mill buy the river bridge. I thought it was unusual but I guess not.
Good ol' urban sprawl and easy meals are bringing them in.
If my dog sees one it'll give him a heart attack.

predators on 4 legs don't scare me as much as those on 2 legs just keep the pet cats inside unless you want a bobcat to invite them to lunch

I was out riding my motorcycle on Wednesday night and one of the largest Bobcats I have ever seen crossed the road in front of the bike. He just strolled along and neven paid me any attention at all - surprising since my GoldWing has some pretty high intensity lights.
This was in Mesquite.

Gee, some people panic over the most ridiculous things. Some of the best memories I have of one job were sitting by a picture window watching bobcats hunting through the groundcover out back for mice and rats. They never came around front, and as far as I know, never bothered anyone at the open-air dining area out back, a few yards from where we would watch them. That was in Richardson.
In Dallas, it wasn't uncommon to watch coyotes or sometimes even foxes wandering around late at night.
I'm pretty sure that, had the "cornered" guy taken any worthwhile agressive action, he wouldn't have been cornered long.

Same thing happened in my neighborhood last year. I live on the East side of White Rock Lake and my neighbor lady down the street came out to get her morning paper and there was a BobCat on her front porch eating the cat food she leaves out and reading the sports page.
She went back inside and called 911 but by the time animal control got there it was gone.
