Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore

#1

Post by hpcatx »

Does anyone have any experience ordering from Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore? I've read posts where folks suggest checking them out for a particular gun or a promotion they have on their website, but none provide feedback or even indicate if the members have made purchases from this vendor. Any insight would be appreciated.

I recently purchased a pistol through them -- about two weeks ago -- and had no issues at all. They were responsive when I asked for confirmation that they'd received my FFL's information. The item then shipped promptly and arrived in good shape, on time.

That's the only experience I can relate. The price for the item I ordered was excellent, so I sort of kept my fingers crossed that it wasn't "too good to be true." But my research prior to placing the order didn't raise any red flags, so I proceeded, and everything went smoothly.

The charge on my card appeared under "Vance Sporting Goods" or something similar, out of Columbus, Ohio.

I'll be interested to hear if others have had problems, or a similarly good experience.

Thanks so much, South Texas RGV! I appreciate the feedback. I've read reviews on other sites, but obviously trust y'all's opinions here much more. Nothing really bad... just mixed comments saying that they took some time to receive the FFL information and were sometimes difficult to reach via phone, perhaps due to their volume of sales. They have very competitive pricing, so most likely I'm going to "pull the trigger" on a new purchase.

I had never heard of them until a couple of months ago when I was looking for a hard-to-find pistol and found it on their website for a very good price. I googled them and it seemed they had a positive reputation, so I placed the order and was entirely satisfied with their follow-through. I think they shipped the day after I placed the order, and didn't even charge for the shipping. That sure beats the service I've been getting from a certain well known Kentucky-based online dealer.

I'd been searching for guns on their site for a month or so. Great prices!! Saw the other night that a XDm .45 Competition I'd been hunting for was suddently back in stock. Purchased on line on 3/12 and picked it up from my FFL today (3/15). Doesn't get much better than that.

I checked on my order status first thing today and noticed that it supposedly had shipped. Update listed a FedEx tracking number. Checked that number on FedEx's site and it showed it had been cancelled by the Sender. Called Sportsman's and got thru on first attempt to a very pleasant lady. I explained what the FedEx site reported and she said that happens from time to time, but that it should've still been shipped out on 3/13 and my FFL should get it today. I asked her to confirm and she took my number down to get back w/ me. I called my FFL and he told me it'd just arrived.

I've had two pleasant experiences with this company since my initial inquiry. I definitely recommend them. Now if only they can get back in stock the next item I want!
