My Brother-in-Law and I went to the High Caliber Gun Show at Pasadena this morning.
He was (still is) looking for an XDs, with a reasonable price.
Don't get me wrong, they had some, but for what was $525 3-4 weeks ago, now they want $600 +, and for the Bi-Tones that were $550, now they are $669
But that markup is not what I am really writing about.
I was looking for M&P9 17-Round mags, which are normally $42 on Smith & Wesson's website, are $70 at the show - CRAZY
And get this,
Winchester White Box, 100 count 9mm ammo, which is normally about $24 at Walmart, they are priced at $55 box.
WOW!
I knew things would be over priced a bit, but for the Mag's and ammo, WOWOWOW!
No, we didn't buy anything, but there were people buying ammo, mags, guns, etc.
All I can say, when the stock in the stores gets back to normal, I am stocking up on everything!

Amazing! I feel like I'm in a comfortable place now. If prices go down, I'll add to the supply! If they don't then I'm good.

One of the dealers I kind of know at the Pasadena show said most everyone has raised their prices to MSRP
Once the panic crowd and holiday shoppers run it's course I think the prices will drop back down.

That is me. I was able to get exactly what I wanted about five or six years ago. I am also going to keep watching for deals though.

I went to the Market Hall show in Dallas today. Stripped Lowers were going for $500.

Same situation at the Lubbock show today. They did have some AR's (my husband is trying to find a left-handed one) but they were asking a pretty penny for them!

a buddy called me this morning to see if I wanted to go to the Longview show with him..... uuuhhhh, no, not on your life! He called me a couple hours later and said the line to get in, 30 minutes after opening, was extremely long. He said there were probably 30-40 guys "in line" with AR's on their shoulders for sale and overheard three of them telling potential buyers a price of $2500. Lots of profiteering going on amongst our ranks. What was Emanuel's statement... "never let a good tradgedy go to waste" (paraphrased)? I find it disheartening that we are being led by the very people we so despise, to do this to ourselves.

If someone is selling a long gun, maybe they and the buyer can both beat the entry fee by making the sale while "waiting in line"

That's what the line in Lubbock was like. Wrapped all the way around the Civic Center inside. We were there right at 9 when it opened and it took us about 25 minutes to get in. We saw lots of AR's on shoulders too. Didn't even ask!

Even prior to this NObama nonsense, gun shows here in Austin had high prices.

I met one vendor at the gun show today. He sold out quickly, but his prices were fair. He promised my dad a couple of thousand 5.56 rounds when he gets them back in. everyone else's prices were seriously jacked up.

As someone new to CHL and owning for perosnal defense. I have what I need for handguns; but wanted to possibly get a long-gun on the lower ends, such as a short-barrel pump shotgun and or carbine; nothing fancy or military/tactical. Are the prices reasonable on the lower end?
