My first 1911 came with 1 and only 1 mate-blued mag. I need like 3 high-quality stainless-steel or chromed Mags, 7 or 8 rd no sure.

Please recommend, I am a newbie in 1911 world.

Chip McCormick mags are decent and usually a little better priced than Kimber or Wilson.

Echoing Keith, I've got Chip McCormick 10 rounders for my Springer GI model and Wilson Combat for both my Kimbers. I was really surprised at how lame the Kimber stock mags were.

There are 8rds and 10rds mags. Bro is recommending to get the 10rds.

I have a Officer 1911 model. Will a 10 round magizine function in the model?

I have heard some people state that the 10 round mags don't function well with their 1911's. I feel it may have to do with the mag spring tension once the mag gets to the last couple of rounds. The 1911 has a very steep feed ramp. Depending on the bullet shape, mag spring tension, recoil spring, and just the individual gun, it may not like a particular mag.

My full size Springfield Loaded model will eat anything I put in it. I even have a couple of super cheap 8 round Chinese mags that work fine. My suggestion is try one before you go and buy a bunch to make sure your combination of gun, ammo and mag all work well. Additionally, a good fluff and buff on the feed ramp and proper lubrication will always help one function well.

You might try Tripp Research... good quality and a Texas company. They aren't "cheap" but you don't want "cheap" mags anyway.

I also have a number of Wilson mags which have been great. (and Wilson spring & followers in my Kimber mag bodies)

I can also recommend Chip McCormack. I am also a Springfield user. I use the 8 round power mags. I will probably also buy some of their flush mount 8 rd ones (no bumper, Match Grade).

I use Wilson Combat in my Kimber and Colts. I have had great results with these. A good quality magazine is crucial to reliable operation of any weapon so don't be cheap. Fortunately there are a number of good alternatives for the 1911 crowd. Good luck!

I've stuck with the Wilson "Elite Tactical" (ETM) models since they first came out several years ago.

I'm also not a fan of 10-rounders in 1911s and 1911-format pistols, even if they function just fine. The reason is that the extra inch in the length of the magazine significantly changes the "feel" and muscle memory on reloads. Under the effects of an adrenaline dump, I don't want to be slamming in a magazine that's an inch longer than the gun's grip; the extra two rounds aren't worth it to me. I prefer to settle on a magazine and baseplate style, and stick with it so that every magazine feels and performs the same way. Just MHO.

I replaced all my Wilson's with Tripp Cobra Mags (7 rounders) for both my Govt/Commander and Officer 1911's.

Maybe it's just my "old guy" memory, but I believe I recall from my 1911 days that driving a magazine home, with greater capacity than the original designed for the particular frame, with too much force could damage internal parts and/or cause other issues. Dunno.

CMC 8 round power mags have successfully fed thousands and thousands of rounds through a few different 1911's I run in training and competition. I like them because they WORK, and you can find them new for fairly reasonable prices.

I have heard good things about wilson 8 rounders, and know some 1911 dudes that run them with no issues.

Same can be said about Tripp mags.

I use Wilson Combat in mine, as well. Every once in awhile you can find used ones at Bachman. Ok, in fairness that was before all this supply problem started. I picked up a couple and they are quality and I have never had a problem with them. If need be I would pay them for new ones....worth the money as others have said.
