I have looked at a coupld of little guns that I might want to purchase for those hot summer days when a cover shirt is not appropriate, or for when I am in dress attire and cannot conceal my primary gun (PT145).

I have looked at the KelTec and they seem OK, but there also seems to be a lot of work that is required to make them reliable. Any others to consider? I like the Taurus PT22, but is a .22 OK for defense as a last resort?

So, would you get:

My dad has never had any trouble from his Kel-Tec .32.

I often carry a Bersa .380. It's a good gun. I haven't met anyone that owns one that doesn't like it.

I sometimes carry a Taurus 85 revolver in a Galco pocket holster for those type of situations. they are really reliable. I didn't do well with my PT22, I got a lot of misfires but that doesn't mean they all do that. I don't think a .22 is a best choice for a defense weapon - I don't have anything to back that up, just doesn't seem powerful enough. It's better than an empty hand, tho'.

I pocket a Keltec P3AT.

You have more choices than you list.

Try a Smith and Wesson 642 if you want more power than the small semi's provide. The Keltecs might require some work. Personally, I think the .32 to be too light, and some would say the same about the .380.

Another Taurus 85 Ultra Light.
My pocket holster is homemade. Took some heave canvas & made a square pouch. Filled the void w/ a sponge cut to fit the barrel & trigger guard. Holds everything square & in pleeted front pocket no one knows it is there. As light as it is, not even me.
On my belt I have 2 Galcos. One IWB that will tuck & the other OWB.
My mom carries a Kel-Tec 3AT. She slips it in a front skirt or pants pocket & covers it w/ a lace hankie. The KT is a little lighter & it has been back to the factory for a fluff & buff.

My opinion & some think it is woth exactly what I sell it for.
If you want a KelTec, I think one that is used, been back to the factory, you can shoot & verify reliable is worth more than a new one. About half are going back.

How about an FN 1906?

I've got one, and it beats having nothing.

I still prefer to carry a J-frame, or even better, my Kimber, but that little .25 ACP just disappears in any pocked. It's got a grip safety to boot, so you know it's not gonna poke a hole in your leg if you get the keys caught in the trigger guard.

Colt Mustang and/or Pony Pocket Lite, in .380. These were preceded by a Beretta Tomcat in .32.

And now, even the Colt BUGs have their own li'l BUG... a NAA 5-shot .22lr revolver with a "folder" grip (think of a folding pocket knife, that opens out into a pistol instead of a blade).

The NAA is a "last resort's last resort" but it's cute.....

S&W 642 in a good pocket holster.

I have a 2nd generation P3AT and haven't had any problems at all.I think most of the problems were worked out on the 1st generation ones.I could be wrong.I love mine,its my always gun. sj

I carry a North American Arms Guardian .380. It fits in my hip pocket with no problems and I have faith it will go bang every time I pull the trigger. It is a long rough trigger pull, but it will do for me.

No problems in a few hundred rounds.

Sig 232 worth a look.....380 larger punch than .32 and easy pocket carry or IWB or crossdraw with suit/coat
My wife's favorite carry! and I use it for formal ....carrys smaller than my KahrPM9

My backup gun is a Glock 17, and from what I hear, it's supposed to be almost as reliable as a Keltec. If you need a bigger mouse gun, this might fit the bill.
