A little bragging and a thank you!

If you'll indulge me for just a minute, I'd like to brag on my wife.

So a little back story. My wife and I welcomed our first child, a little girl, into the world at the end of December. Over the past year she'd done very little shooting, totaling one trip to the range with me back in February of last year. Once we found out she was pregnant that kind of killed her range time, and rightfully so. However, her CHL is up for renewal in July 2013; additionally my parent's licenses were expiring the first of this year (all three of them initially got their's together). So, with that in mind they all wanted to do their renewal together. My folks asked me to handle setting up the class for them, so my first (and only) call was to Linda and the Crossfire team. I told them about the situation, and they indicated that my wife could attend class with my folks, then come back to shoot her qualification some point after the baby was born. With that everyone was signed up for their renewal class in November.

Fast forward to yesterday. My wife and I went out to the range so she could shoot her qualification. We arrived early and Marty was already out there setting up the targets. When he finished he asked if she'd like to go ahead and shoot (the students from their class hadn't shown up yet). She took his offer, and in no time had completed her qualification.

So first off, I'd like to thank Linda, Marty, and the rest of the Crossfire team. Not only were they overly accommodating to our situation, but both my parents and my wife talked about how much they enjoyed the class, both the instruction portion, and the shooting piece. I can't wait for my next renewal so I can get a change to experience their class.

Now for the bragging portion. As I said above, my wife hadn't shot in almost a year. Last weekend we went out to the range and did a refresher, letting her shoot probably 150+ rounds; a mix of .22 to work on the basics, and 9mm to get back in the swing of shooting full power rounds. She did great and I had no worries about her ability to pass the qualification test with flying colors.

To that end, here is the results of her qualification yesterday.

Needless to say, she has now claimed the XD as her own. She's always been a great shot, and yesterday just reinforced that for her.

Oh, and obligatory baby picture.

Terrific!

As I scrolled down and saw the baby picture, I just started laughing out loud and have a big smile on my face.

Happy for your wife, too. Enjoy these years because they are going to go by faster than you ever dreamed.

Haha. I did buy a Winchester Model 67A a few months ago with the thought that it'd be a good rifle to learn on. Same thing I learned to shoot with.
