If you can find the TruGlo Brite-Sites, then spend the little extra for them. Fiber optic for day and Tritium for night sights, the best of both worlds.Pecos wrote:Im going to the gun store tonight to get low light\night signts for my glock 17 Gen 4.

Other good choices are Big Dot Express sights and TruGlo Brite Sites. The partially exposed fiber optic rods in the TruGlos are not as rugged as the others with fully protected tritium tubes embedded in steel, but should do fine in most non professional (not LEO or military) environments.
Unless you absolutely have to have them today, you'll get a much better price by searching for the model you want on line. They're quite easy to install with basic tools.
That being said, if you don't want to install them yourself, you'll end up paying a small installation fee at a gun shop or gun show. Some gun shops will install for free if you buy from them. The price in that case may be close to a wash.
I suggest pricing it both ways and see what works best for you.

Re: Best Tritium or Night Sights -Glock 17
I had Diamond speed sights installed on both my Glock 19 and Glock 17 and love the quick acquisition day or night time. http://www.speedsights.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The diamond shape is unconventional but very effective. A local gunsmith has them in stock and installs them for the same price for the sights alone. Dale Hunnicutt from Grip Reductions was who I used.

The True glow sound good. I might be able to talk the gun shop into installing them free. Sense I bought 2 guns from them. The origional rear are plastic.
The front I thyink has a screw. Any special tools needed to remove the fromt signt?
I can put the slide carefully in a vice with soft protection. Thanks.

I'm checking out all option posted. Im kind of leaning towards the TruGlo Brite-Sites.
Money is a factor-BUT- I would rather get what I really want the first time. I am checking prices online to compare with my gun store.

Re: Best Tritium or Night Sights -Glock 17
I 100% recommend TruGlo TFOs.
1) Tritium is bright
2) The design of the fiber optic "tubes" on both front and back are EXTREMELY effective at gathering light, even at low levels
Personally, I have a Battlehook in the read and TruGlo TFO front sight (sadly, TruGlo doesn't sell just the front sight).
Now....having said all that, let me offer some advice IF you intend to get night sights for home defense:
Spend the money on a nice weapon light or handheld flashlight instead. There's a LOT of reasons why you should have a light, but not many where you should have "night sights" instead of a light (in home defense situations).
For CC though, it tends to be more practical to have a nice set of night sights, especially ones like the TFO that work splendidly in the daylight as well.

OldCannon : This is for my G17 Gen4 CCW weapon.
So im thinking a set of TruGlo TFOs (Front & rear) available? The one's keith were discribing?
My Ruger P95 is my home defence gun & I agree a flach light attachment is better for home defense if it doesnt give away your location.
Thanks.

If you're in the Austin area, I sell them for $99. If you buy from me, installation is free, otherwise it's $15. I don't stock them though, as there's about 30 different variations of TFOs, so I'd have to preorder.Pecos wrote:OldCannon : This is for my G17 Gen4 CCW weapon.

I have these on my XDM, with the orange front sight (available in yellow too), at $125.00 for the set. The rear sight has a black face with a large U shaped notch. The rear tritium lamps are set in black plastic inserts that blend into the rear face of the sight. The tritium lamp on the front sight is set in an "oversized" brightly colored plastic insert (orange, or yellow). That insert is luminescent. It glows very brightly in bright sunlight, making the front sight very easy to pick up in the large U of the rear sight. It continues to phosphoresce for a while as you transition out of the bright sun and into darker places. Eventually, it fades, and the pure tritium lamp takes over. Pictures below illustrate what I mean....

I'm sure the others are good too, but I've settled on these. I'll likely never buy another kind of night sight set.

Re: Best Tritium or Night Sights -Glock 17
Thanks TAM: I really like these. Better to spend a few more dollars & get something really good.
When it come to guns I have a weakness & tend to spend money I really dont have!!!! My Wife wont let me go to the gun display case!!!!!
How long do you think it would take a gun shop to install there? 30 minutes?
