XD45 or M&P 45

Who has an XD45 and who has an M&P? I know the M&P 45 just came out and not many people have them yet so .40 or 9mm are close enough for comparison size and reliablilty wise. The XD compact is what I purchased but the darn slide is so huge I am having second thoughts. I have not shot it yet as I want to be able to return if needed.

The M&P will only hold 10 where the XDc holds 11 or 14 rounds (depending on mag). I know the holster will make a big difference, and would like to hear pros cons about the XD.

Another option is the M&P .40 compact, the only problem is the .40 is a bit more to handle in a small package. I have a Steyr M40A1 which shoots great.

I have the XD-45 Service Model and couldn't be happier with it. My wife has an XD-9 and loves it, and after shooting mine, she wants an XD45 Compact for daily carry.

She's got a birthday coming up in August, might have to get her one.

Thanks, I saw your pics in the daily carry post. Can you compare shooting your XD to a glock? The Glocks I have shot tag my middle finger on my shooting hand.

Until a recent financial reversal, the XD-45c was next on my list.

what do you guys like about the XD? it seems to get good feedback except from glock lovers ;-) . I like the capacity but the thing seems bulky. Anyone have a complaint?

Does M&P make a compact model in 45 caliber? I just bought the M&P 9mm compact to replace my XD 9 service that was stolen. I might have to look at the 45 M&P if it comes as a compact model.

The XD45 is not nearly as bulky as the other double stack 45s and it's considerably thinner across the rails than a Glock 45 of any configuration. I'm not dissing Glocks in any way because a G29 will be my next purchase.

The grip is only slightly larger than a 9mm or 40 cal.

Not yet the M&P .40 compact just came out as well as the full size 45.

The M&P is really a nice weapon.

Hey I've seen you over at Steyrclub. Nice one is that a .40?

I have both the XD-45 and M&P 9mm. I like them both and have no complaints. Obviously, the XD is larger and heavier than the M&P and as such the M&P is easier to conceal. Both shoot very well. Others may differ with me, but I do like the grip safety on the XD, it gives an extra safety margin that the M&P does not have.

I gave up my Steyr for the M&P last year. The M&P has a lot of the charactoristics I liked in the Steyr (ergonomics, low bore axis) but has much better support in the US. Also, with the abundance of M&Ps there will be more accessories and holsters available. The XD is a great gun, but I like the feel of the M&P much better.

I just like the way the XD feels in the hand, and the way it naturally points. Some call the Glock grip angle ergonomic, but not to this old dog. The XD sights fall on target naturally when I point the pistol. I find myself having to "adjust" the Glock.

Nothing wrong with Glocks, mind you. They build a great gun. They just don't feel "right" in my hand.

Here is yet another vote for the XD.

I have both an XD-9 Service and the XD-45 Service, and I love them both.

Just took my 9mm to the range yesterday for some practice and that made for two in a row for the 9mm, so my .45's feeling lonely so I'll have to take it next week!

I'm entertaining the notion of an XD-40sc next.

I have both an XD 45 and M&P in .40. I like them both, and both are naturals as far as feel and aim.

I give a slight edge to the XD, but only slight. But thats just my subjective opinion, worth exactly what you paid for it.
