Glock 42 $399 @ GT Distributors

Just popped onto the GT Distributors website. They're adverstising the Glock 42 for $399.

- Does a .380 Glock turn you on?

- Does the $399 price point make you want one more or less?

I must admit I'm intrigued. However, I'll probably stick to my normal routine and wait for 1) all the self proclaimed gun experts to fill Youtube up with review videos, and 2) pick one up in a year or so, second hand, cheap, and with all the kinks worked out. I don't predict a recall type situation from a Glock pistol, but you never know.

I do not fall into the .380 hate group, but I have enough .380's and I would not want a .380 pistol that is almost the size of a 9mm pistol.

in a handgun, 9mm is the smallest I'd rely on.

my 2 pennies

I'll wait for the 9mm version.

That's about what I figured they'd sell for. I'm looking forward to the pistol, and will probably
have one at the earliest.

In view of how long it took them to get around to this, you'd think they would have produced the gun most folks are asking for instead of a really big .380. The company appears to still be personality driven rather than market driven.

Skip the 380 teaser and wait for the 9mm if and when it ever comes out.

If I buy a 380 it is because I want something to easily pocket carry and the G42 does not fit my specs. In some dimensions it is larger than my Nano.

They also sale the Glock 42 for $329 to those that qualify for the special glock pricing :thumbs2: . I know I am going to get one come tax time.

.380 ACP is below the minimum caliber I would want to carry for self defense purposes (.38 Special/9mm), especially since I'm perfectly comfortable shooting a bigger caliber. Size wise, I would like to check one out before passing judgement but I feel Glock isn't really bringing anything new to the table with this gun that no one else hasn't offered before other than Glock's reliability. It might be something I suggest to a female for concealed carry i.e. nice snag free packaging in a minimal recoiling caliber. But I would want something bigger.

Has there been any official word that Glock will offer this in a single stack 9mm yet? That I might be interested in more so than this gun.

I've seen Makarov 32's in pawnshops for $399 lately (didn't they used to be cheaper?), so I must say if I was in the market for something in that niche, I'd go with the new Glock 42 for the .380 caliber and Glock dependability. Plus, I'm sure it's lighter than a Makarov. I'm not in love with any caliber, just stating my view on the economics of it all.

Consistent price point, too big for pocket carry but manageable size.
Some folks need a 380 for health issues.
Waiting in hopes of a single stack 9 with a rail.
No rail on the 42 btw.

A rail in that small of a gun doesn't do much for me. Given that the G26 and the G27 do not have rails, I don't expect Glock to put them on something smaller.
