Winchester Ranger ammo
My husband found these websites on Winchester Ranger SXT ammo.
Any ideas on whether or not the website's claims are accurate?

Ditto what carlson1 said. It's all I run in my carry pistols. Ranger and Gold Dot are pretty much the most consistent and top performers according to those that do terminal ballistics testing, and they seem to be the overwhelming choice for most knowledgeable PD's. The main reason I carry the Ranger is I can usually get the Ranger cheaper than the Gold Dot.
Try Jerry Kirkpatrick; jwkpatrick@yahoo.com good prices, great customer service, and usually great inventory. A stand-up guy, too.

A cut and paste from some testing that a buddy and I did last year.
4-25-06 Winchester Ranger 127g 9mm +P+
Glock 26 Avg. fps: 1268,
Glock 17 Avg. fps 1372 fps
E.S.:18, S.D.: 7
Pretty fast and consistent. I keep it in a Glock 19, but, not wanting to beat it up, run standard pressure 115g Gold Dots in PM-9.

Winchester Ranger is great stuff. It's what I run in my .45 ACP
I think the .380 ACP Ranger is a bit over-rated, but in 9mm, .375SIG, .40 cal, and .45 Ranger has proven it's effectiveness in the lab and on the street.

I have several cases where I have shot large hogs with the 45ACP +P 230 grain Rangers. All performed very well with many resulting in one shot drop in their tracks including a 200# boar shot at about 12 yards. They expand well, have little to no muzzle flash and leave a nasty, nasty wound channel.
They are getting difficult to find but can easily be found at gun shows. You will also see a wide range of prices going from $25 per box up to $45 per box.

Art Collins (Collins Cartridge Company, Conroe) usually has that in stock and he sells at a lot of gunshows. I think his prices are better than those online prices too.

When I want to buy a bunch of ammo, I drive out to Brenham and buy it from Ammunition To Go. They've got this stuff for $24.95/box or $244.95/case of 500. I'm not sure what shipping runs, as I've never had anything shipped from them, but I think it's pretty reasonable, if I remember correctly from when I first looked them up.Mike from Texas wrote:I have several cases where I have shot large hogs with the 45ACP +P 230 grain Rangers. I buy mine from this guy at the gun shows. Seems like I paid $25/box out the door last month at Market Hall.nemesis wrote:Art Collins (Collins Cartridge Company, Conroe) usually has that in stock and he sells at a lot of gunshows. I think his prices are better than those online prices too.

There is a very good reason for Winchester removing the name "black talon" from their product line, and discourage authorized vendors from calling it that in their advertising.
Ranger SXT is current production ammunition. Some say that SXT stands for Same eXact Thing, but politically correct.
It is excellent.
Now if you can locate some Federal HST in .45, let me know

There were some HSTs at the market hall gun show. $34/box if I remember correctly. I would have picked some up but I was already tapped out.

I have purchased from this man twice and he is very honest and fast shipping. I am not for sure how it compares with the other prices. . .
