I want to demote my p32 to BUG but I can't decide between a single stack para ordinance 1911 or the 92fs. I am also open to suggestions. I would like stainless though.

Go to a range that rents guns and try both out. Get what feels best or you.

Each has an opinion on what to carry. I on the other hand have several.
1911, G21, XD45, 625JM. It's a personel thing for most here and I'm sure you will be no different. It's just what fits you and what you shoot the best.

If all are equal, go with the 1911

The 1911 path is a dark and twisted road, filled with men bent on having "just one more" 1911 pistol. Of those that travel this road, most never come back (to other pistols)

My buddy in Florida. I got him to get a XD40-SC. He's tickled. Then last week, he asked me "what's a good target gun?"
Thinking fast, I said "shoot a SIG.", knowing I couldn't remind him of my 2 Kimbers with a clear conscience.

He shot the SIG, and then *held* a Kimber Warrior.

2 days later, he bought himself a $1500 SA TRP Operator.
"It was the trigger" he sobbed on the phone.

True, How very true.

Well I'm going to have to say Beretta 92FS. But then again I'm kinda partial to them. Have never shot a 1911 and at this moment in time I dont really have a desire to try one. That's all I got.

They're both good guns. I however recently sold my pristine all stainless 92fs inox and bought yet another 1911.
I just shoot them better.

By your comment I assume this choice will become your main carry gun. If that is the case you will want to think about how you plan to carry and which one will be more comfortable in that mode of carry.

Not to start another argument, but you will also need to consider the whole caliber thing 9mm vs. .45ACP. Assuming the 1911 is .45ACP.

I find the 1911's to be easier to conceal then the 92's...

You could always get the both of both worlds and get a Hi-Power. You get a classic Browning design, in 9mm with hi-cap magazines.

Nathan needs to hop in here at some point. He'd never shot a 1911, so I handed him one of my Kimbers three weeks ago at PSC. Eight rounds, quite literally, in one hole no larger than a nickel. He took another magazine and moved his sight picture over about a foot. Eight more rounds through one more, nickel-sized hole.

He shoots the thing better than I do. I thought about giving it to him but, as the Marshal says, I'm already on that dark path and would never give up My Precioussssss.

But seriously, anything that goes bang on demand and is reasonably accurate is a good gun. Everything else is personal preference. And thank goodness there's so much variety...so many more toys to play with.

How many rounds did yours hold, Beretta's website says 10 but I thought the little label at the store said 14.

That was one reason for starting this thread, I wanted to know everybody's opinion there, too.

Sooner or Later you will shoot a 1911 and when you do you will have to have one. or two, or

I'll jump in here and say I bought mine and it came with 3 15 rd Mags.

magazines: I have 2 ten rounders (that came with it), 3 17 rounders (ahthankyou HV), aaaaaaaaaaaaaand a twenny rounder (yes, 20.)

so if capacity is yo' thang, go B92.

so, ya'll are hard up on the 45. cause, you know, the 9mm is a wimpy round, right? I don't see anyone lining up to take a magazine or 9's from anyone....
from that perspective, it just depends on the type of round you fire (Jacketed Hollow Points are the preference for most folk)

However, I, being the owner of a B92, also want a 1911.
I want a 45, and if I'm going to get a 45, I want it to be a 1911.
they're cool.

and as far as shooting goes, I can tear it up with my B92. I'm not a great shooter (yet), but I shoot the best with this pistol.

so, in conclusion, buy one of each, and swap'em out like socks.

Having carried both a 92 FS and a 1911, I can tell you that I would be comfortable with either.

The mechanics of the guns are backwards from each other, so I advise against interchangable carry of them.

I prefer a 1911.
