Fired at least 50 rounds out of my Shield 9mm today, 6 different rounds:

Winchester Train, 147 grain
Winchester Defend, 147 grain
Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel, 124 grain +P
Hornady Critical Defense, 115 grain
Federal HST, 124 grain
Corbon DPX, 115 grain +P

No failures to feed, no failures to eject. The Winchester seemed to have a bit more recoil than the others, but it was not painful, nor even uncomfortable. The Corbon DPX seemed to have a bit less than the others and was probably the most accurate, but not by much. I was shooting offhand at 7 yards, and the groups were "defense accurate," but certainly not "match accurate."

This makes about 150 - 200 rounds that I've fired out of it (should have kept better count.....) and I'm very satisfied with it. It fits me well (I have small hands), is very reliable, has a decent, if not great, trigger pull, and is accurate enough for defense purposes. The only problem is that it's a little bit heavy (23 oz or so when loaded) for pocket carry, but otherwise it does everything I ask of it. It's a keeper!

I bought my wife a Shield 9 a few months ago, very sweet shooter. Nice trigger and very easy to control for small pistol.

Like it so much, I want one for myself, just a little thing called disposable cash standing in the way..

I've recently replaced my Beretta Nano with the 9mm Shield. Right now, I'm using the Winchester Train & Defend rounds and couldn't be happier.

A Shield 9mm is my daily carry. I shoot Remington Simi-Jacket Hollow Point, 115grn +P in mine. I really like my Shield. Back when they were hard to come by I had my name on two different list at different gun shops. My wife ask one day if I had heard any thing. I said no. She started browsing the net and calling every place she could in Texas. The second day I heard her on the phone saying "you do, we will be there in 1 hour, will you set it back for me. Then she told to get in the PU we were headed to Buffalo. The gun was fifty bucks cheaper than any place else price. Been carrying it every sense.

My wife has been carrying a 9mm shield for a while now. Out of the box it had a problem though. Failed to eject. Couldn't get through 50 rds w/o 4 or 5 failures. Took pictures and recorded ammo types I was shooting. Sent the firearm to S&W and got it back within 1wk round trip (that was awesome). Forget what they replaced, but it has been flawless since. Several hundred rounds, no issues.

Mine has been flawless as well but I can't figure out why I just don't love shooting it. Nothing to complain about just nothing great. I have medium hands but it might be the recoil impulse with such a thin grip. I can shoot my Glock 27 faster and my grouping is way better, even with the noticeable increase in recoil over even +P 9mm rounds. I shoot the .40 27 better than the shield with standard pressure 124HST. Time will tell but it is definitely as small as I want to go in 9mm. Conceals much easier then my 27 but if I can dress around I prefer almost all of my other guns to it.

Interesting...mine is doing the exact same thing. It shot the first several boxes of ammo just fine then started with the FTE. Every loaded mag will have 2-3. I haven't had time to mess with it so it's been in the safe. Nice to see S&W will fix it in a timely fashion. I really like the gun. It is easy to shoot and plenty accurate for it's purpose.

I just picked up a new in the box Shield 9mm (sold to me used from a guy I know) that came with an extra 8 round mag, Blade Tec Nano holster and has XS big dot night sights on it and Talon rubber grips. Mine is the no safety model. Have to say I like it a lot. I picked up an extra 7 round mag at Gander Mt.

I have heard VERY few complaints about the Shield. Was surprised to see a few have had problems. I also have a Beretta Nano and Pico. Pico (while its gotten a lot of flak) has been a great pocket gun that can go everywhere. I still think the Nano is underrated. But back on point I like how the Shield carries. I had an XDs 9mm and while thats a great gun it wasnt for me. The Shield is lighter and rides well.

When you compare the thickness to a regular M&P or G26 it doesnt seem that much smaller. I mean yes you can tell but its not massive. Yet when you wear it you notice and I like that. Very comfortable.

I've bought my Shield 9 brand new 4 months ago and shot at least 800 rounds thru it to date. I've experienced maybe 1-2 FTF (failure to feed) out of 100 however I narrowed it down to one of my extra 8 rnd mag's. It has a noticiably stiffer spring tension than the other mag's and the only time that happens is when I use that mag... Interesting...

I LOVE this pistol! It pretty much eats what ever I feed it however I seem to get the best groups using 124 gr. or 147 gr ammo Vs 115 target loads... Monarch brass from Academy gets a big thumbs up for inexpensive target shooting. WWB feels weak in comparison. Remington UMC is good. Winchester Train & defend is awesome! And I carry the "Defend" in my Shield. So far the best groups is using 124 gr. FMJ from Freedom Munitions.. They opened a outlet store in NW Houston!

I've had mine for about 18 months and have right at 2900 rounds through it. I've never had a FTF or FTE or ANY problem with it. The only thing I've done to it is add Talon Grips and I have purchased some Trijicon night sights but haven't put them on yet.

It is simply an almost perfect gun (IMO).

I'm blind in my right eye and shoot right-handed so I've had some problems shooting low and left, so I tried shooting left-handed (I'm ambidextrous in everything I do other than signing my name). I shoot better left-handed, but it just FEELS more natural to shoot right-handed, so I have begun pushing to the right with my left thumb when I'm shooting, and that seems to have corrected the 'low and left' problem.

I love mine too. I have made a few adjustments. I added a Pierce grip to the short mag. That was a huge improvement for my grip. Next I installed Mag-Guts to both magazines. That added one more round to each magazine. Next up I will install TFX night sights. I have these on my full size M&P and wow do I love them. I am still undecided about adding an Apex trigger to this, because I do like the trigger as it is.

I bought my fiance one today because she feels comfortable shooting it (opposed to her Ruger LC9s)...so I inherited a Ruger and she got a shield - she made out like a bandit!

I was trying to get a deal on purchasing two Shields and the Ruger in trade....but no dice. I really like the feel on the Shield and feel I may be ending up with one once I can find a buyer for the LC9s

had mine since they first came out, its a very soft shooter and great to carry in the summer. i wouldnt try to pocket carry it though, bit big for that.
now that they have one minus the safety i should pick one of those up to use instead.

the best thing about the shield other than the size and soft shooting is they are quite cheap compared to some others

I bought mine a few months ago, and I'll say, it did way better than I would have thought it would. I've only put 50 rounds through it (box of winchester t&d), and there was no failure of any kind. Once the plastic comes in the mail, it will be my carry gun. Hopefully I would have decided on some night sights by then.

Went to the range yesterday with my lady's Shield and I absolutely loved it! I want one for sure - although I am going to consider something in the XD series before I make my final decision.

The funny thing was, she was shooting the Ruger she wanted to get rid of more accurately than the Shield! Women are funny sometimes...I suppose it is a matter of practice but I do not think she had shot more than 75 rounds in the Ruger. Oh well, happy wife/happy life.
