I'm still laughing at this:

This video is not so funny. Not a smart move based on what it appears was going on. IMHO

That video was discussed in this thread:

There's a link in one of my comments to a post on packing.org from the guy in the video who shot the robber.

LOL a pump shottie. Of course, that kid couldn't possibly have taken 10 steps without dropping most of those guns, even if he didn't have the shotgun.

How so? Because of the woman's position?

Why did that young mother only appear scared or irritated when the clerk pointed a gun?

OKAY

The clerk is firing a pistol directly in front of the mother and child. Why are both looking at the person running out and not startled by the shots being fired in their direction? The noise alone would seem to force them to both look in the direction of the shots and not at the person running out. Strange.

My guess - she believed BG's are supposed to point guns but clerks are not. The BG was not perceived as a significant threat because you can comply with his demands and all will be OK. That is the message you hear repeatedly from the media and government officials. The clerk, on the other hand, acted out of character, escalated the situation and created a safety hazard by producing a weapon and firing at the BG.

Most, if not all, on this board would NOT agree with that mindset but it is still something to keep in mind when you are out in public.

my guess would be that it all happend so fast that neither the woman or the child had a chance to react, I woulda beat down that clerk had he fired that weapon that close to my child!

fyi, i didn't watch the whole video, and i couldn't hear the sound, if there was a conversation as i am at work. but seriously the part i did watch goes with my above comment.
