I have been regularly shooting a S&W sw9ve 9mm for about two years now. I really like the gun and never had any troubles with it. Eats all ammo I put through it. I was offerd to get a Glock 19. Not sure if that would be a good buy or not. Don't really know much about Glocks. I want to start getting back into Competition shooting and maybe use the Glock19 for that. I just need more imput on what I should do and make a good choice. Heard there is a huge difference in both brands of guns. I appreciate it!

Irecommend shooting the Glock before buying, I didn't like the grip angle on it. I went with a S&W M&P in 9mm

Yeah man that's one thing I really hear from a lot of people is the difference on the grip. My dad has that gun and its pretty sweet. I was offerd a good price on that glock so I want some more info from guys with experience too.

Glocks are good guns. They're very dependable. For the true Glock enthusiasts (of which I am not one), there is nothing better. But then again, the same can be said of 1911 enthusiasts, Sig enthusiasts, etc. I do recommend you go try one out to see if you like it.

For me...there is no such thing as 'too many' guns around the house. :thumbs2:

Glocks are great guns. I like them for their simplicity. Parts and plentiful, cheap, and easy to replace if needed. Grip angle is a bit different compare to a M&P, so I would rent one before I buy one. The G19 is a very common firearm and just about all the ranges that rent guns will have them available.

I think the XD pistols and M&P's are just as dependable as the glock. I think the differences will be in grip and trigger. I may be a bit different in that I didn't like the slim M&P grip and preferred the Glock.

The Glock 19 is also probably more widespread and may have more accessories available, but the M&P should be far behind on that.

I am a Glock fan and the G19 is a great choice. I think you will find it a better shooter than the S&W sw9ve. Just my opinion.

You can't go wrong with a Glock.

I own both and shoot both well but I do not like the grip on the Glock 19 or in a Glock for that matter . But I will admit that the Glock trigger is a lot better than the Smith and Wesson trigger but I have found both of them to be reliable. I prefer a 1911 style grip or a CZ 75 grip

The only issue I have ever had with a Glock, and it was more my issue than the gun, was the little pins you had to pull down to break it down. I have arthritis in my fingers and thumbs and could no longer get it to release so I sold my Glock to a member here. Sad part was, I really liked the gun. Very dependable and would eat any ammo put through it.

One day at the range I was shooting my G21. When I had finished, the guy next to me said "you're really good". I told him that it was the gun and that anyone could shoot well with it. I think it makes an average shooter look good.

:iagree: Glocks are excellent firearms. I've carried them and trusted my life to them for many years. I've never had any problems, period. The 19/23 and 36/30S IMHO are the cream of the crop. (9, 40, 45) All of these are about the same size/weight.

S&W is also excellent. My wife carries a Shield 9mm and I can't even get her to let me shoot it. I have a Bodyguard 380 for deep concealment to alternate with my LCP. My son in law has a SW9VE but didn't like it. He bought a Glock 17.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that the SW9VE was not a high quality handgun.

No, very inexpensive as far as handguns go, heavy trigger pull but from what I've seen, not too bad.
