New to CHL, Texas, and forum

#1

Post by stvnaln »

Hi, my name is Alan and I live in Arlington. I have been in Texas for about 4 years now and I love living and working here.
I am very happy to find a place that CHL folks can get together and exchange ideas and the sort. I just got my CHL 2 weeks ago, 5 weeks on the dot from my application date. My wife and I both are CHL, she's a native Texan, and we both carry everywhere we can. We are also getting actively involved in our neighborhood watch type programs as well as other APD programs geared toward reducing crime in our community.

Age: over 30
Gender: M
Profession/school status: Engineer
Marital status: Married
Years CHL: 2007
Carry guns/equipment:
I'm not totally settled on my carry piece, but for now it's a XD40. It's a little on the bulky side but shoots really comfortably and packs a mean punch. I'm leaning towards a carry piece like my wifes Taurus Titanium 357/38sp for ease of conceilment and weight. I guess there are arguments to go either way based on personal choice.
S.A. XD40
RUGER 22/45 MARKIII
Taurus Ultralite 357/38
Bushmaster AR15OPC
GLOCK G26 w/clipext
I believe in a two hand grip on a cold 40.........caliber that is!

Welcome.

In the event you have not stumbled around the forum much yet, I'll point out that you (and The Wife) may want to join some other North Texas "locals" when Charles comes up to Irving to do seminar on the 17'th. Details here: http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... php?t=8744

Welcome to Texas and the forum. It's great to have good folks moving into the state. I know in Austin I see out of state plates literally everywhere now, so it's good to see that there are some like-minded folks moving here.

Welcome Alan and Mrs. Alan. As Flint said, encourage your wife to join the ladies here as well.

You will enjoy the people and information here.

The XD40 is a good choice forall around weapon. I have an XD45 that is one of my carry options and my daughter carries an XD9 sub compact.

Hi Alan,
Welcome to the forum, and please extend an invitation to your wife on our behalf.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.
