Ironically the reasoning is that the 6 shot revolvers are at a disadvantage to crooks using 16 shot 9mm's due to reloads and down time... yet the public can't use said 15 round mags as they serve no purpose beyond killing innocent children.

Wait a minute... so you are telling me that the criminals still have 15 round magazines? I don't believe it. Not for one second. The SAFE act made those illegal. Issue all cops 7 round mags!

The general NYC population would be safer if the NYPD just disarmed; they're useless pistol-shots mostly thanks to NYC's own policies which forced the closure of shooting ranges at which they would have been able to train.

They made their own bed, they can lie in it.

From what I have read once upon a time just about every NYPD precinct house had a firing range in the basement, and the ranges were closed down due to lead accumulation and inadequate ventilation. Instead of installing OSHA type ventilation systems and continuing to use the range, they are now used for storage, etc.
