Saturday a little over a week ago, I picked up another burn on the back of my right elbow from a piece of hot 5.56 brass. It occurs to me that it might well be worth the cost of someday investing in a left-handed upper for my AR, because that's really the problem. Being left handed, my offside arm is on the same side as the ejection port and—concentrating on my sight picture—I'm not particularly aware of hot brass landing on the bench before I set my arm down on top of it. The burn I got the other day actually made a sizzling sound for a fraction of a second before I yanked my arm back.

Oooorrrr, TAM, you could simply stop bucking the system and start learning to shoot right handed ... the way God and JMB intended the human race to shoot. You lefties always demanding special rights, special desks in classrooms, special guns, special scissors, special coffee cups. Wouldn't it just be easier on all of us if you would simply conform????

Not to mention special places at the dinner table!

Yeah, I've had hot brass down my collar. Never stuck in my glasses though.

Was once burned on both elbows by hot .223 brass when shooting through a barrel in a match.
The only way to hit these particular targets was to lean way into the barrel and shoot through it. (Longways. It was on it's side with the top and bottom removed.) I had rested my elbows inside the barrel. One piece of brass bounced off the inside of the barrel and rolled down and rested against my elbow. I tried to ignore it because it's a timed course and I'm trying to shoot. Had a pretty good burn where it sat there. We ran this course twice. The second time I only rested one elbow, the one that had not been burned, in the barrel, same thing happened to that elbow. I had a little burn mark on each elbow for months.

Hadn't been hit by a hot brass yet, but one did hit the lane cover, bounced back and apparently hit the base of my trucks windshield. I noticed a crack soon after that.

my wife got one right down the shirt her first trip to a range with me ! but she handled it like a complete professional , i was shocked , i wasnt even sure it went down her shirt the way she set the pistol down , untill she did the chicken dance !

on the subject of burn wounds , 2 days ago after shooting about 150 round thru my carry gun i holstered it and went straight to my truck and sat down ..
YEOWWWW ! i guess i cut my leather a little short on the bottom cuz the muzzle just barley peaked out and tattoo'd my thigh .
