A slap in the face

News from the NRA:
Crossing the Line: This week's outrage comes from Pasquotank County in North Carolina.
If you want a gun permit in Pasquotank, you can go to the new Pasquotank Public Service Building in Elizabeth City, but you must stand in line. The only problem is that you, a law-abiding citizen, may have to stand in that line with convicted sex offenders. That's because if you're there to get a gun permit, there's only one line you're allowed to stand in; and the sign at the head of that line reads, "Gun Permits/Sex Offender Registration."

Are they trying to make gun owners look bad????? or are they wanting sex offenders to stain their underware?

I can't answer that question. It could be a typical bureaucratic mix-up. It could be that both services require access to the same database for criminal background checks. Or it could be a sly attempt to embarrass gun owners.

Or it could be that they have a limited amount of space in their building. I would hope the line for the gun permits would be longer than the sex offenders.

Guess what ...
I would NOT be standing in a line with any vile, should-be-exterminated "sex offenders."
You think they'd be listening as you (especially if you're a woman) give your HOME ADDRESS and name, and watch the car you drive away in, hahahahah.
I would not have one standing to the back of me, no way.

Guess what? You probably have had a sex offender behind you in line at the grocery store, the bank, Post Office, and didn't even know it. That's why keeping aware is so important.

I don't know.
North Carolina requires local law-enforcement approval to purchase a handgun.

You only need a pistol purchase permit if you don't have a CHL, though.

Resolution: Signage will be changed after protests.
The official explanation is that both services had to be handled by a sheriff department employee, and most of the time only one was on duty.
