Political Bumper Stickers could make you a target

Yesterday, my wife drove to a lady's home to redo her fingerprints. Now, my wife is a little redhead who drives a sporty little red Mustang convertible with a "McCain/Palin" and a "NOBama" sticker on the rear. Once she entered the neighborhood, she noticed an apparent ethnic dichotomy. While this is normally not an issue, the particular group of male and female 20-somethings lining the street, as my wife looked for the address, was a bit intimidating.

They closed in toward her car as she drove through at about 20 mph, yelling racial epithets, stating that "this is a DEMOCRAT neighborhood," etc. When she arrived at the lady's house, she told her what had happened and that she felt a bit threatened. The lady's response was, "I just keep to myself."

"This is a fine time to tell me," my wife thought.

After doing the prints, my wife had to, once again, face the gauntlet. Again, the crowd was yelling comments and moving in on her car, blocking the roadway. Understandably frightened, my wife positioned her M&P 9mm compact in her lap, windows up, doors locked and focused ahead, driving a constant 20 mph with no signs of slowing down. The group continued to yell and wave (not in the good way), but, apparently realizing that she had no intentions of slowing down, parted and let her car through.

This little scare was enough to prompt her announce that she'll NEVER AGAIN go to a client's home.

It's sad that there are people out there who will attempt to intimidate, threaten, or even attack those with differing political viewpoints. My wife is not a racist by any means, but actions of groups such as this serves only to strengthen racial stereotypes.

Sounds like a good opportunity to get her interested in a 1911.

OTOH, the 20mph Mustang has around 120,000 ft/lbs of energy, so I'd use it first, too.

Why are liberals, who love to tout themselves as being so tolerant and open to supposedly any idea or lifestyle, so intolerant to the ideas and lifestyle of those who think and believe differently than they do?

Hmm...

A bunch of able-bodied adults loitering on the streets during the middle of the day instead of working....

Racial epithets....

Hatred and bile....

Attempting to intimidate those with differing viewpoints....

Yeah, I'd say that's a Democrat neighborhood all right!

Interesting side note... my father-in-law's NObama sticker was damaged at the Dallas Galleria yesterday. They cut the sticker and removed the left side, simply leaving "Obama" while he was in the mall. It's unfortunate that simply advertising your political views makes you a target and your property subject to vandalism.

Sounds like a good reason to rub poison ivy over the sticker after you put it on.

I wish there was some sort of super glue that didn't dry until touched by human hands. We could've caught them "red handed"

My McCain Palin sign is on the way. I have noticed a couple Obama signs in yars. Will be interesting to see what happens after I put it up. :biggrinjester:

Works both ways, and you know it.

As a former Californian, I know all too well that some folks are tolerant as long as you think like them. MUCH happier since I moved.

I seriously want a "None of the above / they are both the same" yard sign...

Superglue applied in a layer... put WD-40 on the top to seal from Oxygen...

Just wipe down the stickers with cinnamon oil.

I'd love to do this, for EITHER side.

In fact, I'm considering getting an Obama and a McCain sticker, and putting one on either side of the car.
That way I can offend EVERYBODY.
