I just ordered 1000 Oregon Trail Laser Cast 200 gr LSWC for 45acp that are costing me 5.7 cents each delivered from Cabela's. I also bought a 1000 45colt 250gr for 6.7 cents each delivered.
They are running a "free shipping" sale but they do add the $6.00 extra weight charge for bullets. Both bullets are on backorder but they honored the free shipping promotion. You have to spend a mininum of $100.
I have used Oregon Trails bullets in several different calibers and have found them to be excellent bullets.

Sales tax too or no?

No sales tax. My invoice reads:
50.99 (45acp 200gr)
61.99 (45colt 250gr)
12.00 Postage (6.00 per 1000 for extra weight)
Total paid: $124.98

My original post states 6.7 for the 45colt, should have typed 6.8 cents each.

I went back and ordered another 1000 45acp plus 500 125gr and 500 158 gr 38 caliber lead bullets. They did not charge any shipping cost or adder for the boxes of 500. All they added was the 6.00 for the 1000 45acp.
You have to insert a promotional code of 7GIFT4U to get the free shipping.

Since Cabela's has operations in Texas now, they would be required to charge sales tax.

Sounds like you were lucky. Maybe they don't have their computer programmed correctly for Texas sales.

for that kind of money,if you can find lead wheel weights,you can make your own bullets for about 1 or 2 cents each

I just ordered and received about 30lbs of various sizes of bullets (9mm, 7mm, .22) from Cabelas and they did not charge tax. I used the $4.95 shipping option too so it saved me a lot of money and the bullet prices were less than Midway. I've been buying, when I could, from Cabelas for the last 8-12 months. It seems like Midway has been charging a lot more for shipping than everyone else and Cabelas doesn't have a $25 minimum.

I used to cast .44 mag bullets years ago. It is cheaper but I barely have time to reload my ammo now never mind casting.

I have everything I need to start casting except a melting pot to melt down the wheel weights to pour into my ingot mold, luber/sizer and dies and some wheel weights or other lead to start with. I have the casting pot, molds of various bullets, ladle, gulf wax, etc.

Here is my casting setup a master caster and a star lubrisizer,I currently cast bullets for 9mm ,45 acp , 44 magnum , 40 S&W , and 38/357 , i can cast about 600 bullets an hour ithout trying very hard and i can lube them just as fast , i started with a lee 20# bottom pour pot and lee 6 cavity molds , I also have a machine to make lead shot i haven't set up yet.

Now, that's useful information. I was thinking stone age when 50 an hour would have been great. had no idea.... Now, I understand.

Has anyone tried using rainier bullets, i was thinking at using 200 grain flat point with 4.7 gr of tightgroup to get around 825fps

I use them, 230 gr .45, 180 gr .40 and 124 gr 9mm they shoot better than I do. Berry's Bullets are also good.
