Is there anywhere in the Houston area where you can learn how to reload your own ammunition? I have not a clue on what to buy, where to buy or how to reload ammunition. I'm thinking in the near future to start reloading, but like to take a course if at all possible before I go out spend the money.

This may help. Just choose Texas and then Metallic Cartridge Reloading. There may not be any in Houston but maybe somewhere close.

Yes. I would suggest reading the following books.

NRA Guide to Reloading
http://www.nrastore.com/nra/Product.asp ... PB%2001779

Lyman's 48th Edition Reloading Handbook
http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.e ... t=11082005

It really isn't rocket science. There are many knowledgeable reloaders here to provide assistance.

If you adhere to accepted procedures and use caution in powder charges and bullet seating depths, the risks are minimal.

It might be possible for you to meet someone in the Houston area who can demonstrate.

Good luck,

You might get more replies if you post in the Reloading forum and ask for a mentoring session.

Most reloading manuals have enough information to get you started . . . assuming you're smart enough to read a book without having to move your lips. ;-)

I was around 12 or 13 when my Dad and I began handloading, and it was easily within my grasp just by reading the manual.

If you'd prefer video instruction, you can rent reloading videos from smartflix.com: http://smartflix.com/store/category/36/Reloading

I was in Carter's Country recently and they had a sign about reloading workshops. I didn't get the details but you could give them a call.
