You might also consider Jing, from Techsmith, the makers of Camtasia and SnagIt as mentioned above:

http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's free. The limitation is that videos can't exceed 5 minutes.

What's nice is Jing integrates easily with their Screencast.com service:

http://screencast.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And that provides free 2GB of storage, and free 2GB of monthly bandwidth.

True, but Jing Pro was abandoned by Techsmith in favor of Snagit:
"As we looked at customer requests about Jing Pro, we realized that the newest version of Snagit was the best tool to address the main concern—an end to the 5 minute video recording limit. Our Jing Pro users have always recognized the value of easily sharable images and videos, and we believe that the richness of Snagit will give them a total visual communication experience."

So, probably should just go down the Snagit path.

My Screen Recorder is one of the best screen recording tools. Records your screen and audio from the speakers or your voice from the microphone - or both simultaneously. It's easy to use, and perfect for tutorials and training videos

If you just need to capture the steps, Windows 10 has it built in:

EDIT: This is what the post a couple up was referring to I believe.
