Windows server backup software

What's your window for downtime? Do the websites have to stay live during backup. I find my disk to disk backups run faster and work more reliably if I just stop the services and robocopy the data to another drive. It's free and reliable. For managing multiple server backups in large environments I've always used Netbackup, but it's overkill for my present network (7 servers) so I use robocopy for nighlty backups and do a server 2003 native backup and an exmerge (for the exchange server) every weekend.
