Is there any difference between an HDMI cable rated at 1080p and one rated 1080/24p?

This has to do with the film speed 24 fps vs 29.97 fps vs 60 fps vs 120 fps. It may also be expressed in Hz sometimes.

fps = frames per second
Hz (hertz) = Cycles per second

Two different measurements. Hertz, such as 60Hz and 120Hz for progressive scan devices such as the current crop of flat screens, is the number of times the screen is refreshed or redrawn within a second. FPS is how many frames are captured within a second and is used in reference to film. This might help a bit more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frame_rate

The i and p references interlaced and progressive scan. Interlaced is how older sets "drew" the picture on a tube screen, by doing odd lines first and evens on the next pass. Progressive is more modern and redraws all of the lines each time and is much clearer. This might help some more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_scan

never go to a big box retailer to buy cables.... best buy etc.. a cable is a cable is a cable it all delivers the same signals monster or monoprice cable

but yes go order from Monoprice, I am a satisfied customer many times over
