Does DPS wait until they receive all your documents before starting on your application?

I completed my app on August 26th and did my prints September 2nd. The only thing I was missing was the CHL-100 which I sent electronically on September 19th. I'm just curious if having the app and prints done a few weeks before would speed the process up a bit.

From my experience, the answer to your question is yes. I had my CHL in hand on Aug. 30. And did app on Sept.3. Didn't do finger prints till sept17. Long story short, their was no movement on mine till they got all parts. They didn't even submit it as a package until late last week. Just yesterday mine went into printing.

My advice, once all is submitted call DPS a few days after and make sure they have your stuff. I called on the September 20. They said the didn't have my CHL-100. I told them to check again, they ran a check while on the phone. Sure enough it was there. They will tell you that all parts are acknowledged but not part of a packet. This is really the only part that you wait for.. Again from my experience it went pretty fast once submitted to Backround.

I did my app online on August 9th, fingerprinted August 12th, completed my CHL course on August 31st, submitted all documents per checklist August 31st, received confirmation Email Sept. 1st and received my CHL (License to Carry Handgun) on September 26th. I thought I would be ahead of the game by getting the application and printing done early but by my timeline it seems they wait for everything to be sent in before any processing begins.
