Come on USPS!!

Post by pgsulins »

Hey Guys,

Here is my timeline

9/29/07 - Took Class
10/1/07 - Mailed Packet
10/2/07 - Packet Arrives at DPS
10/31/07 - PIN arrived via USPS
11/30/07 - Application Completed - License issued or cirtificate active
11/30/07 - Waiting for plastic

A little about my background - I moved to TX in 9/07 from NJ where a CHL is impossible. In the last 5 years of my life i have lived in 3 different states and worked in 4 other counties. My background check was quite extensive and still managed to get approved in a reasonable amount of time. Go TX DPS!!!

When i applied to a permit to PURCHASE a handgun in NJ, i needed to interview with a local detective, get fingerprinted, list referencesand employment, and go thru a background check. Rmember, this is to just purchase a handgun. This process took 11 MONTHS!!! And you have to go thru the entire process again for each additional handgun purchases down the line. NJ sucks.

To everyone who is waiting, hang in there. Your plastic will come.

Paul

Thanks, There's still no sign of mine.

I'm beginning to worry. Probably send an email if the website status does not change during the weekend. Who knows maybe the plastic will surprise me in the mail this Sat.

from my very limited experience with the process, i assume that most of the wait time is due to delays in background checks. Do you have several counties that need to be checked? I was getting anxious a few times and instead of sending an email, i called DPS, and they were always nice I know that doesnt really help considering they are probably closed for the weekend.

After the Air Force in '96, I've lived in Tarrant county. I don't know how quick Tarrant is with background checks?

Anybody here had experience with Tarrant county?
