The wait begins

#1

Post by RichardJ »

Hello all, new guy here. Well took the class 4/5 and mailed my packet 4/7. From what I have read here so far, I was lurking for awhile, I have a little bit of time till I get my plastic. Maybe I can use the time to find a better carry weapon. I currently have a Beretta 96, but I have had my eye on a Sig 229.

Welcome, hope you have a comfy chair. grab one :cheers2: and get ready for a wait.

I have a P226 that fits me perfectly, but to each his own, just make sure that when you shoot it, it feels right :fire

Welcome...and whatever you do...don't email them asking for a PIN. it seems to strike a raw nerve down there. :biggrinjester:

My weapon of choice for carry is the Kahr PM9. I also like my Glock 17...check that...LOVE my Glock 17...but it is large for concealed carry.

Thanks for the welcome fellas. I have a nice comfy chair and a stash of various snacks and beverages. My plan is to just leave DPS alone unless they ask for more info. I just hope I can stick to that plan.. ;-)

I have seen 2 here locally that are priced at 550.00. Both are factory refurb. So I think I will have to pick one of them up next week when I get paid.

Where in San Antonio have you seen the Certified Pre-Owned? I bought mine in Austin....never could find it in San Antonio...(I have a buddy of mine looking for a Sig 229....he saw mine and now he wants one for himself)

BTW that is a decent price...

Hello RichardJ

I to am new to the waiting room, so welcome from one newbie to another. I have a Sig P226 that is a very sweet gun. I had planned on carrying it but a few weeks ago, I was in Bass Pro Shop in Pearland and a S&W M&P 40 compact caught my eye. Well as luck would have it, it happened to be the last one on the place, S&W was offering a rebate and two extra clips, I had my checkbook and some time to kill, so I got it. I haven't had the time to take it to the range, but I can't wait. I have never fired one but have hear lots of good things. Anyway, good luck on the search for that perfect handgun, just when you buy it, you'll see another one. My wife says its an addiction.

One of them was at Bass Pro here in SA. But that was a couple weeks ago so I don't know if it is still there. The other was at Bullethole shooting range.

Welcome to the waiting room my friend. From what I have seen (read) in the forum, it is a great place to be. Hope the waiting won't bee too long. I have heard quite a few horror stories about 120+ days of waiting (OMG). I hope it isn't that long. Take it easy and I look forward to your company.

Question to to "old-timers" reading these posts: Is it customary to list the hand guns owned in the signature block?
