New to the room... Mailed on Thursday second day!

So it means they probably received the application Saturday or Today ( I haven't checked the confirmation system at the USPS website)

But now my question is this:

How will I receive my PIN and how long does it usually take for them to issue it?
I'd like to be able to track my application online =D :fire

Thanks!!!

If you applied online, you already have a pin. If you received your packet from your instructor, your pin may or may not be issued within 90 days. Some get the pin quick and others, like me, waited more than 3 months to get a pin.

The pin is mostly a joke anyway. There basically is no such thing as tracking your status. There are three sentences that a pin allows you to read. "Mailed Packet" "Processing application" and "application complete". There seems to be zero relationship between which sentence you read and the actual status other than..."application complete". Read the some of the posts in the waiting room forum and you will soon decide that the best avenue is to sit back and relax. Your in for a LONGGGGGGG wait. Or...you can make yourself nuts for the next 3-6 months by getting in a hurry. The 60 day promise is a thing of the past. Very few applications...if any...are getting processed in that time frame.

Sounds like a plan then!

So there is basically ZERO communication between The Texas CHL department and us?
What if they need extra documentation?
Or thee is an error?
Or... or... or... etc... get my point.

What IF!

How do I know we are on schedule for the next 6 months?

Should I give them a call once in a time whenever I have an hour of free time so I can wait on hold to get through to one of their queues?

Your feedback is much appreciated!

I believe they are suppose to send a letter if something is missing or wrong with your application. I personally moved to the processin app stage pretty quick, but stalled out there.Sit back and wait, and at day 60 you can try and contact you State Rep like i did.Which hasn't yet proven to be of any help.

If they have any problems with your application, they get in touch with you...via mail. That is what they did in my case. I just sent off the items they needed corrected. The online status page will only tell you the three statements I mentioned above. It won't tell you how close you are. Some guys have been at "mailed packet" for months, but like I said above...this does not mean they aren't working on your application. I am noticing several folks in my same time frame getting action...including me. We just sat with no information for 3 months prior to this. No matter how many calls we made...no matter how many times anyone checked the status page....it didn't help one bit. It is a load of garbage...but it is what it is. They are swamped and there is nothing any of us can do to change it, except maybe leave them alone so they can work on our apps. You can write your state rep, but every cry baby in the State is doing this now, so it no longer will help unless you are getting some kind of extreme mis-treatment. At this point, if they put every winer that writes their rep ahead of the patient ones, the wait would turn into a year.

Word has it that 90-120 days is about the time for processing now. When you think about it, there is a certain amount of humor in a person going without the permit for years and now they are suddenly in a life threatening hurry to get it. :smilelol5:

Be patient young padawan. Lot to learn, you have. There, many frustrations, will be.

Avoid banging your head against the wall, Learn you must. Herh herh herh. :banghead:

wow!
thank you folks for all your help!
I will mark my progress in iCal and post the stats in my profile pretty soon (hopefully)
I'm in no real rush here; no life threatening situation. But it sure is funny how suddenly you feel the urge or need to pack and you want your plastic NOW! =D

Thanks again for your feedback; I love this site! Specially the firearm section ;) there is no shortage of nice people; traders, sellers and bystanders. Nice guns and even nicer prices!

No personal signature for now...
