I have gotten to the point of 90% done .... 90% to go.
My status changed today (6/27/08) to "Processing Application" after 95 days of "Packet Mailed to Applicant" status.

Re: March Applicants
3/8/08 - class complete
3/10/08 - packet mailed
3/12/08 - packet recvd
5/12/08 - called and got 'not in the system yet'
6/20/08 - called and was told they had entered into system and i had a pin issued (told me to email for it), no problems / emailed about pin #
6/23/08 - letter in the mail about missing information (i had a continuation sheet for residence and they lost it)
6/23/08 - mailed same continuation sheet as included orig
6/25/08 - recieved pin by email / status: letter mailed
6/27/08 - status: processing application
Basically the stuff wasn't entered until the week of the 20th/june. They were VERY quick about sending a letter out about the lacking information (even though they lost it, grr). Even so, didn't lose much.

Re: March Applicants
Greetings to all,
Another frustrated applicant.
Classroom and Proficiency Training............. 3-14-08
Application package forwarded to Texas DPS ...3-15-08
Received notice of unacceptable fingerprints....6-17-08 (I am 80yro)
Second fingerprint set sent in......................6-18-08
When I retired, my application for Social Security went smooth as glass, would that my state could do as good. This is a second filing, my first had lapsed. Such a helpless feeling-Calls, if you can get thru, aren't accurate .
Well, back to the range, punch holes in targets!

Re: March Applicants
Just when I thought I figured out what the order and processing times are... They are just all over the place. Some people would get thiers within a month of the "processing application" status, other would see 3 months, other would take 3 months before they even get their pin and entered in the system, and other get their plastics in 60 days... just total inconsistency and chaos.

Re: March Applicants
I believe the online status page means absolutely nothing. It gives folks something to divert them from calling in. I was told at one point that they can work an application without having the data entered for your pin. I believe this is one of the reasons for the confusion about processing times. My page said "processing application" for two to three days. It then switched to certificate active. It still doesn't have that written right. My license is on the way to my house. My pin was issued last Tuesday. Thursday, they mailed my plastic to me. This tells me that they are working applications, regardless of weather a pin is issued or not. Getting all worked up and excited because you change to "processing application" is about like getting excited over Christmas because Santa Clause is coming.Jesse1911 wrote:Just when I thought I figured out what the order and processing times are... Re: March Applicants
From my own experience and from viewing the processing time of others I think the only two dates you could measure between are "Packet Received in Austin" to "Plastic Issued" By my unofficial count it looks like the system is running 75-120 days for processing of applications, depending on the month send in (Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr). It would be interesting to see a breakdown of time spend for "Packet Mailed to Applicant (PMA)" and "Processing Application. (PrA)" Measuring these two would probably indicate the following:03Lightningrocks wrote:I believe the online status page means absolutely nothing. 1/3: 60 days PMA, with 40 days PrA
1/3: 90 days PMA, with 10 days PrA
1/3: 40 days PMA, with 60 days PrA
Additionally the PIN received date has quite a range, as online applicants receive a pin back with the "Authorization Letter;" while those who use paper applications appear to get a PIN once processing begins.

Again...the pin has nothing to do with "when processing begins". The pin is generated instantly when you apply online and the pin for those that mail in their application is generated when the data is entered by the temporaries.
I was told this in an email about two months ago and just received proof. That is unless anyone is to believe my application went from dead on a desk to complete in less than a week. Look at my times in my sig.

Because it has not been entered, does not mean the application has not been started. It sinmply has not reached a data entry person to type the application into the system.

Are you sure? The reason I ask is that the check for 140 dollars cleared the bank on March 20th, almost a month ago. Surely the State wouldn't rip open the envelope, take out the check and then just throw the envelope back down?

Your application has not been entered into the system. It is likely going though the processes required before entry. When a completed application is entered you will be sent a confirmation letter with your PIN number.

Re: March Applicants
Waiting like the rest of you March applicants. I have resisted (up to this point) in contacting State reps, but 99 days just to get a PIN is ridiculous. I am hoping that my back-end wait is short like some others, but who knows.
If DPS thinks they are swamped right now, what do you think the Supreme Court decision is going to do to their workload?

Done....plastic arrived today. I am thinking maybe I want to do something more daring than the Wally walk. Maybe a stroll through the Fair Park area at midnight with a pointed hood on.

I would advise against that.03Lightningrocks wrote:Done....plastic arrived today. I am thinking maybe I want to do something more daring than the Wally walk. Maybe a stroll through the Fair Park area at midnight with a pointed hood on.
I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations. ~James Madison, speech, Virginia Convention, 1788
