Well I hit my first road block. Packet was returned yesterday because they claim my employment history is incomplete...I'm a college student and they wanted me to list BOTH my college and high school as employment...what the heck...employment means paying job right...CHL instructor definitely told me I didn't need to list that...grrrrr

Thanks...I guess the bright side of this is that they have only had my application for about 2.5 weeks and its already getting looked at...I'll get the revised version in the mail tomorrow and hopefully this will be only a minor speedbump in the grand scheme of things.

Hey USA1,

What information did you give when you emailed them for your pin? Did you get your original paperwork from them or from your instructor? I called them and they said they don't assign a pin until they are about half way through processing (about 6 weeks).

Thanks

i got mine from the instructor .

contact TxDPS via email (chl@txdps.state.tx.us) and request a PIN #
include the following information:
Texas concealed handgun license number
driver license number
full name and date of birth.
i also included my SS number .

i waited until 4 weeks before e-mailing.
even though i received a PIN via e-mail the following day ,
my status didn't change to "processing" for another week .

Well I'm in the August thread. My wife and I both took the course and mailed at the same time. She has two counties listed, I have three for background checks. It will be interesting to see who's shows up first. If she wins, I'll never live it down.
