Still waiting.....
I filed my original application back in late March and received a letter informing me that I had sent in the incorrect DD214 sometime in early June and immediately faxed the correct one in. So here it is late August and I am waiting like the rest of you guys. I am getting pretty impatient and even sent an email asking about the applications progress last week but have yet to hear from them. Bureaucrats at work... gotta love it.

Re: Still waiting.....
I think a phone call is justified. Emailing DPS if iffy at best....or a verrryyyyyy long delay in answering you. If you do call, be prepared for a 20 minute wait on hold.

I called a few weeks after online said "Processing Application" and needless to say, the person on the other end of the phone was less than helpful. I dont understand, if the only thing that was incorrect was my DD214 why didnt they go ahead and check everything? The only thing the DD214 does for me is lower the fee to $70 from $140.

Well, maybe they are checking everything. An endless conversation around here is the topic of background checks. It seems like that's were most of the bottleneck is, or seems to be.dsim wrote:I called a few weeks after online said "Processing Application" and needless to say, the person on the other end of the phone was less than helpful. Thanks Dbrn, so do I, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. I'm hoping sometime between Thanksgiving & Christmas. By Halloween would be great but I think that's stretching it a bit.Dbrn wrote:I hope you get it soon.
But I hope YOU get yours real quick. Since March?? Sheessshhhhh. That's a long of enough wait!

That is not at all how it seems to work. Once something is wrong, they place it in a pile of things that need corrected and it just sits there. Once the stuff is corrected, then they start working on it again, and the time even starts over.

Re: Still waiting.....
Well it seems that there are some wheels that need to get put in place to fix something like that. I can understand if it was something else, like a background check showing something not reported, but my issue was only important in regards to how much I was going to pay. They could have very easily done what they needed to do while waiting for either another copy of my DD214 or sending in another $70 to cover the rest (I am sure that it doesnt take too much more time to get the ball rolling on that stuff vs. throwing it back in the pile). To me separating them in that manner would greatly decrease wait times for some people that have minor issues such as that. If everything is good then all that will need to be updated is the file and they can click 'print' and send me my plastic.dwdog wrote:joe817 wrote:Well, maybe they are checking everything. Re: Still waiting.....
I did call DPS Thursday afternoon and the lady on the phone told me that everything had returned for it and that I had to talk to the person handling my application. Left a voicemail and was told that I should expect a callback within 24-48 business hours. We shall see though as thats up in about 6 hours.....
Re: Still waiting.....
Does anyone know how often the website is updated? I just got off the phone with DPS and she told me the person handling my application approved everything and has sent it for printing but my online status still says "Processing Application."
Re: Still waiting.....
I have head from some that is updated during several times a day and I have also heard that it only updates once a day. There are even some of us that believes that it updates once every leap year.dsim wrote:Does anyone know how often the website is updated? On Friday I was told that mine had been sent to the printer and Ishould have it in 3-4 weeks but my status still shows as "Processing Application" Whether it really has gone to the printer or not I have no idea. At this point I have enough distrust of the system to wonder if this is another stall tactic.

Check the website again tomorrow. It may update overnight. It sounds like you should have your plastic in hand in a few days. Congrats! (Finally!)

Re: Still waiting.....
Just checked it and it still says "Processing Application," I am starting to think that this is a stall tactic. With as many people that are still waiting (just that I see on here) there is no way the print shop is so busy that it should take 3-4 weeks to get it out.mikeintexas wrote:Check the website again tomorrow.
