Online status does not match live update
My status online says "application processing," but I have had one phone call and one email to DPS indicating the license is being printed.
On Monday (2/1) I received the following response to an email inquiry:
"The license is being printed. You should receive it within 1-2 weeks."
I am wondering if others experienced the same lag.
July 2008 - Online application, paid fee, received PIN. (Luckily they do not enforce the 1 year rule .)
12/29/09 - CHL class
12/30/09 - mailed completed packet
1/6/10 - received by DPS (per their records)

The only other message you will see will either be "Application Complete. License Active or Issued", OR "Missing Information. Letter Mailed to Applicant".
They don't do updates like the kind you are suggesting.

Re: Online status does not match live update
I think I answered my own question. Just for grins I sent the question to DPS and received the following back in about 2 minutes (their email response time is remarkable!):
"Your application is complete and your license was mailed on 2/4/10 . Please allow time for delivery. Thank you and have a nice day."
No acknowledgment of the online status question by DPS, but at this point, who cares!

Re: Online status does not match live update
The online status is notoriously unreliable. Some people had "application processing" long after they received their plastic.
Congratulations on nearly completing your ordeal.

Congrats pvince!
My brothers app did the same thing. He called in and he was updated on his app. The gentleman told him that they have nothing to do with the web site. His status was still processing a week after he got his plastic.

So should you email them several times a day asking for status, if the web is unreliable?

Mine said the same thing. Took about 3-4 days to get plastic after they verbally told me it was completed. So hopefully yours is in the mail already.
Welcome.

Now I wish I had been more aggressive in deciding on what I wanted to carry. The only handgun I own is an old Colt Detective Special snub-nosed 38. It was my grandfathers gun. Rarely fired best I can tell. It came to me in the original box with the original box of ammo purchased with it. Kind of a classic I suppose. Not my ultimate carry piece though (exposed hammer, for starters, and I would want CT grips on any snubbie I was carrying). I did buy a pocket holster for it awhile back, but I think it is too heavy to carry in a pocket. Time to get serious about shopping now!

Congrats and welcome pvince.
time to find your carry piece. If I may suggest, if your looking for a compact semi-auto, the S&W M&P 9/40/357 compact is might fine (what I carry). I like it a lot but looking for its full-size brother to compliment and for shooting matches.

it took several weeks to get a response to several emails back in the day (June 09) Things seem to have changed since thenUSA1 wrote:They told you "have a nice day" ? What did you say in your email? I want to shoot them one but I don't want to sound rude as sometimes stiff emails can sound.pvince wrote:My status online says "application processing," but I have had one phone call and one email to DPS indicating the license is being printed.

Suggest you go to a range which has a large selection of rental handguns and try several before you buy.

I made a big deal out of them getting back to me so quickly saying how impressive it was. They are super friendly. BTW it did show up "application complete" as of this morning online.

Great advice bauerdj. I had the thought once but had somehow drifted away from it.
