I promised myself I'd remain calm

Mid-June--Application and fingerprints
6/25 Class
6/26 Mailed
6/28 Received
7/6 Background under review
7/8 Manufacturing pending
7/9 (Saturday?) Manufacturing

And we're still Manufacturing on 7/12. Arrrgh!

I'm sure the laminator caught fire Monday morning, and DPS is ordering esoteric parts from an individual craftsman in some third world country . . . and they'll have to be delivered by boat, but no one in Austin will know how to properly install the part, so it'll break and another will be ordered, but it'll be for a newer laminator that will require DPS to update the entire application process . . . so my packet will be voided, and I'll have to do it all over again.

Hope is lost. I'm going to sell my guns and buy a sword + several large flashlights. Probably an ostrich, while I'm at it. Put spurs and a spotlight on that sucker, have Crossbreed make us a saddle, maybe outfit my basset hound with some body armor.

I'm going to spend the rest of my life riding a "tactical ostrich", pointing at my sword, dragging an armored (and sleeping) basset hound behind me.

Thanks a lot, Bureaucracy. :rules:

Outwardhound--

I'm not really too freaked-out--I was very fortunate that my background and paperwork cleared so quickly . . . which also served to get my hopes up on the overall speed. Which is not to say that I won't be pacing the floor if my plastic spends the next two weeks in Manufacturing.

Maybe I should just "think positive" and assume they're forging platinum ID cards for us--perhaps they're gratis Lifetime CHLs.

Maybe our "SA" designation will instead read "TANK" :fire

Let me know . . .

yeah, your background was quick. I'll be happy with anything under 60 days, but it just a little frustrating and confusing when I look at others on the forum that have gotten theirs in under three weeks. I should stop looking at this stuff, lol. I'm gonna start dreaming about ntering my DL, SSN and DOB

Just wait until they post "Mailed" and it takes you a while to figure out they only mail one day a week and they posted mailed the day they mailed out that week, but AFTER the mail had gone out so you get to wait a week. :biggrinjester: Don't "shoot the messenger", just warning you - it happens.

I was figuring on something of that nature. So long as it isn't six months . . . Really, I knew I'd probably stepped-off into a crevasse/processing-time-out-of-joint continuum by submitting my packet so near to July 4th.

Anyway, the ugly truth: I'm anxious because I'm planning to celebrate by immediately running out and flashing fresh plastic for a new Ruger LCR. :evil2: Pity the fool who gets between me and a forthcoming acquisition.
