This past winter, there was a big fire at a commercial bulk mail sorting warehouse in Dallas. For a while, no one (as far as I could tell) on the forum was getting their plastic. The assumption is that a bunch of CHLs went up in flames.

Just sharing info. :tiphat:

That is pony express slow.
Maybe they should have a service where you get an E-mail notice
with an option to go to the Austin DPS and pick it up yourself.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO Now I bet it hasn't even mailed yet. Or it burned in a fire! Thanks for the support guys. I feel 0% better lol. :banghead:

I think a great way to lighten some workload in Austin and speed up our wait time would be to print them at the local DPS office like most states make DL's and state ID's while you wait. You get an automated call saying all your background and stuff was done and go to dps at your convenience to get card, Sounds good to me at least.

That sounds like a GREAT idea.
They wouldn't do it though cause it would eliminate the jobs of the envelope stuffers!

I never have been able to understand why Texas doesn't print drivers licenses at their offices like most other states do.

I am beginning to think that the DPS must only mail things out once weekly. My status has said mailed since Tuesday and I still have not received mine. This is almost more aggravating than waiting for DPS to process my application. At least then, I expected a 60-day wait.
Application 06/14
Fingerprints 06/22
Class 06/25
Mailed packet 06/27
Status Update 06/30
Background 07/08
Manufacturing 07/11
Mailed 07/12
Still nothing in the mail 07/15
Plastic 07/16

Seems like I remember reading around here somewhere that they mark it as mailed when it is thrown in the mail pile but they only actually mail them out once a week. So my guess would be middle of next week at the latest. Maybe this will help time slip by a little faster (sorry, I love this song).

Here's a clue: UNION (I'm just guessing though).

Same thing going on here with me! Saturday morning it said "Mailed" now at Wednesday and still no plastic. USPS Mail between Dallas and Austin is usually 3 days.

If it makes you feel better, I sent my materials to DPS via certified mail. It took three weeks for USPS to deliver from Dallas to Austin.
