They should just be displayed as incomplete or under review. Seems as if DPS feedback/progress is pretty inconsistent.

(Again...dropped off the paperwork at a Dallas post office (standard rate mail) on 08/08.)

Application : Received <-- 8/12
Fingerprints : Complete <-- L-1 Printing occured on 8/8; Didn't check the site until 8/12 though
Affidavits : Received <-- 8/12
DL or ID : Valid <-- 8/12
Citizenship : No documentation required <-- 8/12
Passport photo holder : Received <-- 8/12
Photo : Received <-- 8/12
Proof of Classroom training : Received <-- 8/12
Proof of Proficiency training : Received <-- 8/12
Fee : Received <-- 8/12
Background Check : Completed <-- 8/19
Concealed Handgun License : Mailed <-- 8/19

7 Days?! That is fantastic!!!! Consider yourself extremely fortunate. There are others that have been waiting a lot longer and they are NOT going to be happy about this at all. If they are a bit short with you, don't take it personally.

Yeah...it's almost been too quick (although I do consider myself to be a pretty stand up guy!).

Don't worry, I won't take anything personally! Knowing how long some people have waited, I was a little hesistant to even post the progress of my app. But it's actually just a couple of days shorter than a few others I have seen here. Still pretty dang quick though.

Does anyone know any details regarding the DPS background check? Are there any common factors for delayed applications that anyone knows of (past arrests, speeding tickets, etc., etc.). From what I have read elsewhere, you have to declare any ARRESTS and the town/municipality where they occurred or they manually investigate the details (that's right...not convictions, ARRESTS). For myself, two speeding tickets in ~12 years (1 out of state, 1 deferred adjudication.), no arrests, no run-ins of any kind. ...just guessing/trying to be helpful here.

I would suspect that is true. I am also thinking the amount of different addresses would have an impact as well. As a college student, I have had many addresses and I'm thinking that is why my background check is taking this long.

Well I called back like the guy last week told me too and the guy who answered today said that my prints haven't showed up yet and that to give it three weeks for the issue to be resolved. I think I am in for a LOOOONG wait. :totap:

I assume that you are referring to calling a DPS guy. If so, I would contact the L1 center where you had your prints taken ASAP. I spoke with the lady who took mine and she said that the DPS would have access to them that afternoon. I suspect the "3 weeks" you were told is a delay tactic for a problem he doesn't understand and/or doesn't want to get involved in.

Congrats TXCHL7474. That is awesome news. I went to the box today but no plastic. I have a crazy question for the entire forum. Everyone has been posting their timelines, including myself. I received mind(the actual dates) from asking the DPS rep on the phone. The website gives me the status but no dates. Where is
everyone receiving their actual dates? Waiting for the plastic...

8/12 First Update
8/12 Background Ck complete
8/19 Manufacturing
8/20 Mailed

All the dates that I have are dates I know prior to DPS retrieving my supplemental info package from the USPS. I have not had an update yet. People check on a daily basis on line and report the date that the info shows up and what state it is in at the time in progress or completed etc. That is my guess.

I got my dates when I was going through the process by checking status 87 times a day on the TXDPS website. When something would change, I would write the date down in my folder then post it.

TXCHL7474, you went through so fast that if I ever see you...just kiddin'...Congrats! :txflag:

Hang in there, Cool Arrow...hope it goes fast.

Like many, I checked the website many times a day and recorded the dates when there was a change. So in my case, if it took DPS a day to update the website, my dates could be off a day or so.

When we are discussing how many days it takes; are talking about business days not including the weekends?

I used actual days. Didn't subtract weekends out of the equation.
