9 Months- Still no Plastic !!

#1

Post by Daltex »

Ok so I'm a procrastinator. This is for a renewal btw.

Online app: 9/14
Class: 5/19
Mailed: 5/21
DPS Received: 6/11

I didn't have time to take the course until I made time for it. Since we can carry in our car I was fairly well covered since I am either at work, home or in my car 99% of the time. .5% of the time at the gun range BUT that missing .5% when I do go into a store, bank, mall, restaurant etc. I really do miss having my carry.

The funny thing about the whole deal to me is that I waited so long to take the course but now I check the status everyday.

After you filled out your online app on 9/14, did you receive a letter from DPS stating they had not recived your CHL-100 showing you had taken the class? If so, you only have 90 days to respond to that letter and get them the paperwork. At that point, if they haven't received the papaerwork within that 90 days they will terminate the application and you will be considered a new applicant and have to take the whole class again as if you were new as well as pay for the new license (not a renewal.)

nice - I never received any correspondence from the DPS but according to the DPS Online I'm in the process so if they flag me I'll take my lashings because I truly was negligent in getting to a class.

I was lead to believe that I had 1 year to finish the steps (according to the email receipt from the orig. dps app.) but I'll take your word for it that they could have sent something saying 90 days.

This is off my email from DPS:

TxDPS cannot process your application until all Required Items are received.
Send in all Required Items, including checklist, at one time.
Inaccurate or incomplete information will delay the processing of your application.
Required Items must be received by TxDPS within 12 months of your online application. Failure to submit all information within this time period will result in termination of your application. If your information is not received within this time period, your application will be terminated and the fee will not be refunded. (Note: Once any part of the application is received by TxDPS, the application is subject to any deadlines set forth by the notification or request for information from the Department.)

Since I wasn't required to send in prints or photo maybe that's why I didn't get the 90 day letter and still have the year.

not sure

You may be ok if you never were sent a letter. Hope so anyway. Keep us updated!!

In the mail :hurry: :hurry: :hurry:

Checked last night for the first time in a week or so and it's on it's way.

Sent packet via regular USPS on 5/21 so if it get's here today or tomorrow it will be a little over a month.

Just for the record my process went really fast with the DPS once they acknowledged receipt of the packet. That occurred on 6/11 so 21 days from when I sent it to when they said they received it.

Once received it took 15 days to finish processing it.

Just thought I'd add my info so others may gain some insight.
