Re: NOOB!
I mailed it just normal mail. I should have done certified or priority so at least I would know it was there. I've emailed them twice, but haven't heard anything. Planning to call on Monday if it isn't updated. I wonder if they work quicker on the certified since they know you know it arrived there. I live 40 mins south of Austin, so I know they got it Wednesday. Looks like I just have to chill out and hope that it made it, or that it's sent back to the return address if it didn't.

Re: NOOB!
I'm not sure they are worried if we know when it arrived or not! We are talking about government employees!!
I can talk bad about them cause I is one!
I think it took a over a week from the time I THOUGHT it should arrive until it was updated on the site. And that is two days after I called and confirmed it was received!
But good luck with yours. I hope it goes through with out a hitch!

UPDATE: Mailed packet August 6, arrived DPS on August 7 . . . status changed to "CHL mailed" August 28. Need to check my mailbox the next few days!!
Re: NOOB!
Confirmation of arrival isn't for the office's acknowledgment. I requested delivery confirmation for MY own peace of mind!J.J. wrote:I'm not sure they are worried if we know when it arrived or not!

Re: NOOB!
give it about a week...when I talked to DPS, they said that once it goes to "mailed" that's when it actually goes to processing and them in the mailbox...they said it takes 5-7 business days from the day that it's changed to mailed....which in my case did...took 7 business days for mine to be in my mailboxRiverCity28 wrote:UPDATE: Mailed packet August 6, arrived DPS on August 7 . . . status changed to "CHL mailed" August 28. Re: NOOB!
CHL arrived Friday, August 31! 25 days (19 business days) from mailbox to mailbox.
My first day to carry (TODAY) is also the day we in Austin learn about a CHL holder who shoots a dog that got out of the house when visitors were leaving. I'm sure there will be relevant posts on this site about the incident. All I know is that I'm considering as many scenarios as possible beforehand so that I'm prepared to make the right choice on when to draw my weapon. BTW, I own a Vizsla (the same breed that was killed) and I cannot imagine a situation where this breed would be considered dangerous. I'm a bit sad to hear about this incident.
