Yup, and countless hours on this forum getting to know the intricacies of the law and practical action. And to have some fun, too! :woohoo

I'd say I'm a much better CHLer for having spent so much of my wait time here with these fine folks.

I'll second that.

Use the time to practice carrying around the house then when the plastic arrives, you'll be ready to go!

Welcome G XD 45. As was stated above, practice at home as much as possible. When the plastic arrives, it will be second nature to go out armed.

Don't check the DPS site more that once a week. IT WILL DRIVE YOU BATTY. Just ask most here.

And know that the time line to getting approved can be from 20 days to over 60... Make you feel better? It'll drive you nuts if you let it. Good luck.

I have learned alot from this site already. Spent a few hours reading different postings and find myself looking for signs when I walk into different building around town.

Where does everyone suggest going to look for a holster for my springfield xd .45 on the sw side or does anyone have the same weapon that they found a holster they like the best.

G XD .45 welcome aboard. Glad to have you. The apps ar going faster than they used to so you should have yours pretty soon.
Get your gear together. Practice carry at home. Go to the range.
You will be prepared when the plastic arrives.

+1 on what he said.
+1 more on the range. Find a range you can draw and shoot at. I just visited The Lone Star Gun Range (mentioned in the thread here: http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... php?t=6420) a few days ago. It's the only range anywhere near Austin where you can draw and shoot, so I thought I'd get some practice in. Because of my living arrangements, I was never able to practice drawing with an empty gun, so this was my first opportunity (had my CHL since 05/05/2007). The first time out, I forgot about the safety. I'm glad this wasn't a real-life situation, and it highlights the importance of getting yourself familiar with drawing and firing your weapon.

I checked the website more then twice a day even after everyone told me not too. Drives me nuts waiting for something. Nothing Nothing not even movement. Go on vacation on the 6/6/07 so dont think about checking for a day or two.

06/08/06 website states that I have been issued a license and now I have my plastic in my wallet.

Good luck to all and thanks for everyones post in this forum.
