Too Long?

I mailed in my paperwork almost 4 weeks ago and still have not heard anything from TxDPS. Nothing shows up on their website when I type in my information to see where they are in the process. It just says "Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page." I completed the application online and took care of the rest of the checklist before sending in the required documents. How long is too long? Should I just assume my application materials were lost in the mail?

I also emailed my documents last week "just in case" you can do that from the contact us area.

No. The DPS CHL folks are extremely busy right now, dealing with all of the changes to legislation this summer, and trying to recertify all the instructors who expire on December 31 this year. It's been a very busy September and October for them.

You can try to call them, or drop 'em a note, but patience is your friend, here. I'd give 'em another week or so before I started trying to get ahold of them.

Today is day 39 for me. My status still say its waiting for receipt of required materials. SUCKS!!!

It may "suck", but it's very normal right now.
