No Particular Order

Time Line
5/30 Took CHL Class
5/30 Submitted Application and all paperwork required
5/30 Received Automated Application Confirmation
6/1 Fingerprints submitted
6/2 Fingerprint Confirmation
6/4 lost ability to apply for CHL on website

There are plenty of guys on here that applied after me and have there CHL already, the funny thing is I have an FBI Background check (TWIC card), a Deemed Trustworthy Certification by the NRC (National Radiation Commission) allowing me to transport and handle hazardous amounts of radioactive material, and have a Federal Explosive License. You'd think mine would be cut and dry, and still here I wait lol. Hopefully Soon!!!!!!

Welcome to the forum! The wait drives ya nuts, for sure. And there is no apparent connection between any other background checks and such as there are quite a few of us with high security clearances and it seems that things process as they process. But hopefully you'll hear something soon!

That's what happens to everyone as far as I know -- the button for that goes away because you already have an application submitted.

I have a complete FBI background check and security clearance every two years. The waiting time was just the same as a neighbor who hasn't had one since serving in the military 30 years ago, actually he got his approved about a week before mine. The wait is just part of the price to be paid to have a CHL. Things take time with the number of applications they receive. Just think if they let one application go pass that was not eligible what a stink the media would have if they found out.

I've had multiple special background investigations, top secrets out the wazoo, and a clean record. still took me 97 days. go figure.

Some one should rework the process, it would save time and man hours. I mean, say you have a TWIC card ( for those who don't know this is an FBI background check to make sure your aren't a terrorist, it allows access to ports of entry that the standard people can't access, just a brief summary, it's more than that) when you get your fingerprints present the card they place it in a reader and do your fingerprints confirming you are the person that the card belongs to and supplying a complete background check instantly. That just cut some short staffed government offices workload and increased their efficient, which saves time and money ( I know save time and money and Government is an oxymoron). They've made it easier and easier over the years to get your CHL but it's like the process on their part hasn't changed, this day of instant info and the State still does things the slow way. Heck the county just started taking a Debt Card this year, how ridiculous is that? LOL!

I have wondered about the process of how many different agencies they have to check,FBI,State,County,City, state taxes, child support. Can this be done all a t once or do they have to go to each individual agency to check?
