"We have your application, all the supporting papers are attached, proof of class also here, everything looks good...well i have to be honest,i have no idea why is that you do not have your license yet. They barely started the process. I wish i could tell you something else but at this time all i can say is be patient and give them some more time." :))) i was speechless, over 2 months passed since i recieved confirmation of supporting documents have been recieved and they barely starting my app? Still speechless

I'm getting mighty tired of reading "Please allow sufficient time for processing" every time I log in to check my status...

I've called them 3 times in the last month. All I can get out of them is "We have your documents, please wait longer."

Very frustrating. Good luck to you, CC.

Amen Sweat... I'm on day 70ish from my confirmation (12/28) and add 6 days to that from my submission (12/22). I called last Friday and was told to "just keep waiting". I'm afraid to call again bc if it's bad news my frustration may boil over.... To see these people with January apps being approved grates on me like no other.

I logged in a few minutes ago and the website has not changed. I'll just roll with the punches and try to be patient for another 11 days. I can only assume that my background check took very little time, I have worked around and traveled with every President since Jimmy Carter. Don't know if the DPS even taps into the Secret Service database. I've had security clearance from DPS for decades. Bought guns thru the Civilian Marksmanship program, too.

Funny thing is that most posts that i have read where december applicants are still waiting, we all have very similar dates. I Applied dec 24th mailed all docs right after christmas and recieved confirmation dec 28th. Congrats to all of you that are recieving your licenses after 30 days but i sure wish i was one of y'all. Did the department get a system wash for christmas or is it just the usual "they paid the money, went through the process so they'll wait, they don't have a choice" ??

Can you determine the date everything was in RDS hands? I realize it says 60 days, but when you go by business days the RDS seems to nail it.
With what Im assuming is a reported record number of applicants, and zero increase in FTE's personally I think they're doing a great job.

If you're qualified and pass the extensive background check, the LTC will come.

I hear you, Zimmer.... I just got to that point as well. Everything submitted 1/5 and was confirmed, and we're seeing mail submissions 2 weeks later that are approved? GEEESH! :grumble

While I understand the workload issues that DPS struggles with (and I'm sympathetic), they really are no different than most other Texas government offices: Understaffed and non responsive. The fact that their website is really of no help exacerbates the frustration. They could save all of this if the site showed you the sequence of events and where you are in the process. They'd save themselves a ton of time attempting to answer many of the status inquiries, and generate a little satisfaction and confidence in the overall process.

The big difference between the CHL/LTC office and everything else is that this is to exercise a God-given, Constutionally-recognized right, wherein an otherwise law-abiding citizen has to choose to commit a crime in order to carry a weapon to protect himself against the lawless. It kinda feels like Texas pays lip service to this right, with no follow through on execution.

I submitted the last of my application materials on 12/10. Seeing as how many of the "waiters" are from the same period, maybe someone in the application room went bat-poop crazy and scrambled that week's worth of applications. I'm on day 84 and haven't heard a thing. I'm going to start my license renewal paperwork as soon as I get my license so maybe it'll be approved in time to avoid the lapse.

While we beg and grovel and acquiesce to bureaucrats in Travis County and Wahington, D.C. to, on a severely limited basis, exercise a specified Constitutionally protected right, liberals fight like a rabid wolverine for acts of brutality and depravity not even remotely contemplated by by the framers (sans legitimate 10A arguments). The fact that protected class (h/t Peggy Noonan) RINOS out of self preservation allow this dichotomy permits Donald Trump to aspire to the presidency.
