When I called DPS and inquired about my status, they told me it was out for printing as well. The following week, my status changed to "application complete license active" (not exact wording, sorry, but I think you know what I mean). Then it took 6 days for them to actually mail the license and I received it 2 days later. FYI, that was just my time table.neilp wrote:Seeing all these May applications being completed had me a little impatient. Not to mention the June and July apps being completed too! So I called DPS last week and was told my application was being reviewed. I was forwarded to the reviewer's voicemail and told to wait 48 hours for a response. Having received no response I called again today and was told that my license had been sent for printing. After confirming that this means I'm approved, I asked how long until I recieve it. I was told that it could take up to a month. I asked about the web site still stating "processing application" and was told that will not change until the license is in the mail.
While I don't have any plastic yet I'm pleased that it's approved and progress is being made. I'm hoping that the month estimate was deliberately pessimistic so I'm not calling them every other day.
Well, I called DPS for the first and only time on Aug. 31st and was told that the license was out for printing. My status changed to complete on Sept. 3rd. I received the license (according to my roomate b/c I was out of town) on Sept. 11th. That was my timeline.neilp wrote:dklag - do you have any idea how long the printing process took from start to finish?
Thanks

DPS at work
They use batch processing....ie, they accumulate processed files until they have enough to send to the printer's. It's been rumored that they use a 3rd party contractor that does the actual printing. So I would imagine they'd accumulate over a number of days before they are actually transferred to the printing company. So if a processor says it's going to the printers, in actuality, it may be waiting to go to the printer....it's just not in processing any longer. When it reaches that stage, your application basically has been approved, just not issued or active.neilp wrote:Thanks for the clarification. Anyone got any idea how long the printing process takes?
