"Waiting Room"

Re: "Waiting Room"
Not that is will make this go any faster, but just food for thought. If I can waltz into a gun store and purchase a gun with absolutely no problem, no red flags or waiting period, then why does it take so long to get a license to carry a gun concealed or otherwise. My understanding is that when you purchase a gun the do a database check of some sort, it seems a little backwards to say "I cant carry a gun, but I am free to purchase one" just a topic of discussion while I wait.

Re: "Waiting Room"
It's been pretty quiet in here the last week or so...what's everyone up to?
What have you been doing to keep your mind off of waiting for your LTC?
I put an 80cc motor on my bike and have been playing around with motorized bicycles since I applied to keep my occupied...But I started thinking about it again when I went to the range to sight in my new 9mm single-stack Glock...
Your turn now!

Re: "Waiting Room"
I spoke to someone on the 5th and was told that my card was printed and was waiting to be mailed. Haven't seen any status change as of yet. Wonder how long it sits before it is mailed? Tomorrow the 10th will be 8 weeks for the new countdown, originally sent in 11/30/15.

Re: "Waiting Room"
I would like to make an observation. I have been on this forum since back in February and I am noticing a change in the participation of its members. I have seen many come and go. What is very remarkable is that the participation has dropped considerably recently. I believe that this is due to changes made by the RSD at the DPS. The new hires, reallocation of personnel, instituting overtime and working on weekends has helped the enormous backlog of applications. The DPS RSD has to be commended on their progress but they still have a long way to go. The frustration of the participants is not as bad as it was a while back. The newer applicants are being served faster than before. But we are still here waiting. Misery loves company. I suppose the misery is not as bad as it used to be. BTW, I hear that several old-timers are still lost doing their Wally Walks.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Well still here....
Submitted application: 122 days ago
Document received: 89 days ago
Additional documents countdown from 180 days: 150 days remaining
As others leave and I stay I use to be frustrated, now I just don't care. Get here or don't get here, the system is flawed and will probably never be fixed. It is just so ironic that people think Texas is this happy gun toting free for all state, when in actuality it's pretty tough to carry a gun. I have been thinking lately, maybe I should run for office and let my platform be constitutional carry.... I might not win my seat but I can at least rattle a few other chairs.
