Renewal bull

#1

Post by rckrzy1 »

Ok I knew Austin would find a way to not renew my license in time. First I had to call and get a "second" package sent after filling everything out online
and paying my $70 ( new vets discount ). Now when the package finally arrived 8-10 weeks after paying I took the class that weekend and sent everything
in, or so I thought. Now 40 days later I get , you did not send a copy of your DD214 . THEY NEVER ASKED for it. The state already knows I'm a vet as I have
a loan through the TX vets land board. So now my CHL expires Thursday and I'm irritated.

DPS already has our fingerprints but you won't get far submitting a renewal application without another set.

Well, since you are already irritated, I guess it won't help to tell you that, if you are a vet, and renewing, you should have only paid $35.

And it is noted in the paperwork that you must submit the DD214 to qualify for the discount. DH took advantage of that earlier this year.

Well I looked again and did not see DD214 Anywhere. And I only paid half the amount , it may have been $35 but I don't remember as it's been SO LONG now.

And yesterday my CHL expired, thanks DPS.

Anyone got any input on carry in your vehicle without a CHL as I believe it's now legal but
I ride a motorcycle and am not thrilled with leaving a gun in my tank bag, locked or not.

I just sent in my renewal recently, and the package had nothing about needing a DD 214 for vets. I checked it very carefully. Luckily I had already read about it here, on the Texas CHL forum, and my CHL instructor mentioned also. So I hope that won't be a hold up for me.

Glad I was reading this board tho.

I, too, recently submitted for my renewal. I also followed the checklist they sent verbatim. I then received the letter stating a copy of my DD-214 was required. I obliged and am concerned I will have a lapse as my license will expire middle of this month.

I can understand renewed fingerprints. Part of the proving who you are bit. But the DD-214 should be on file with the original application or should be referenced in an electronic file as having been verified.
