I sent in my packet 3/10, and got my pin today 6/10. Now I'll wait for the finger print rejection. :leaving

Someday I'll be a CHL holder.

Hey Dude!

When I hit 90 days, I felt like a brick wall just stopped me in my tracks. But time marches on (even if its at molasses speed) :totap:

I hit the 100 day mark yesterday...........but today!! New Status: Application Completed.

I suspect that you are right behind me and within about a week or so, you'll get the good word. Hang in there....... :thumbs2:

Dude -- I agree with LabRat, hang in there. I sent my packet to Austin about a month behind you. There are a ton of applications they are plowing through, they will get to yours soon and then mine a month or so later. Trust me, it will be worth the wait.

That's why I got the Utah license also. Makes me legal to carry in Texas while waiting on the DPS to process my app.

How can I find out if/when my application's been entered into the system short of calling them?

What are the requirements for the Utah license? Does the CHL course we take for TX meet it, so it's just a matter of filling out paperwork & sending a check & waiting?

I'm going to start a new thread in the main section about what other states give reciprocity to UT or FL licenses but not TX.

EDIT: nevermind, found a good list here (PDF). Looks like having UT in addition to TX gives you NH, NV, OH, & WA, which don't recognize the TX CHL. Having FL in addition to TX gives you NH, NV, & OH.

You have to take the course from a Utah certified instructor and send in the paperwork. Mine was Linda Watson in Roanoke, who is certified for both Utah and Texas.

Well, I'm certainly interested now - I didn't look closely enough before to realize that NV doesn't honor TX CHL, and since my dad lives in Reno I'd certainly be visiting a time or two in the future!

I wonder if there are any UT-certified instructors in the SATX area...

EDIT: found Utah's list of approved out-of-state instructors here (PDF), and look who's there: our noble proprietor here, Charles Cotton. :txflag: No one in the 210 area code though... :grumble
