Well, since one wasn't already started I figured I'd set up a waiting room for the September folks with my first official post here! :) Took my class this weekend with the wife and we both qual'd tonight, sending off my packet in the AM via FEDEX. Hope to see my plastic before I retire, if Austin is actually picking up some speed and making up some ground, we just might.

Good Going

Pull up a chair and get comfortable. The wait takes a while and I hope you are patient. Anyway, welcome to the forum and find something to do while you wait or you will go crazy.

I already have a couple good magazines for the short term and a copy of War and Peace as well, might even throw in Les Miserables while I'm at it if the wait is THAT long. lol While I'm waiting I'll be checking into holster recommendations for my USP Compact and a 380 CC.

A funny note about this - When we went to USPTO to mail the paperwork certified mail, the guy behind the counter knew exactly what the envelope was/for and began to chat about the CHL. He mentioned the long wait, of course, and how he is processing so many renewals and new applications now it isn't even funny.

....

So I slipped him $100 and told him not to send all the ones he had in there out until after mine..

Hello everyone, just found this fourm. I just sent my app off on Wedensday, 9/25/08. So I guess I get to play the waiting game now. But thats ok for the grand prize will be a brand new shiny CHL card. So let the games begin.

Seems to me that the average wait is about 90 days. I began contacting DPS at about 60 days or so. Someone should be working on your app by then. Might want to contact them and ask to speak to the tech who is working on your file and build a good rapport. Good luck!

Woohoo! and I'm not saying that for WaMu either. lol Checked the site today, expecting to see the dreaded "Application mailed" message when I was shocked to see "Processing Application"! At least there's some progress being made, already had my PIN since I applied online. Here's hoping for some speed to have it done quickly. :)

Thanks, you too! Minus the parachute pants though of course. Then again, they might conceal a drop leg holster well! lol
