First post on this forum for me... "long time listener first time caller" as it were.
Submitted everything on the 7th in person (except prints obviously).
Nothing as of yet online, but at least I've memorized my DL number.

First post on this forum for me, too. I registered about 2.3 minutes ago.
I also have my DL number memorized -- I suppose we all do. They should change the rule so that if you don't have the actual CHL on you, your ability to recite your DL number must mean you're OK.
Here's my chrono so far:
Online Application 9/1/11
Class Completed 10/1/11
Packet Mailed 10/2/11
Fingerprints Done 10/6/11
Pends fingerprint review and BG according to the on-line status.
Based on what I've seen, I would imagine about 2-3 weeks to go. I'll update my info as I check it, so the folks behind me in the queue can judge when theirs might arrive.

Agreed, I know I would be a bit more impatient if I didn't have other peoples stories to keep my spirits up. Seems like everything has been going quickly the last few months, so lets hope October is no different.

Trying not to be to itchy about this after first posting just yesterday, but I checked today, and saw a change, "Fingerprints: Complete." All that remains is the "Background Check: Complete." It sure looks like things in this process move along pretty smartly.

That's pretty quick there Bernie.
I'm praying I get my first update this week (tomorrow maybe?). DPS received my packet last Friday.
I'm thinking about getting a sig p220 compact as a Christmas present for myself, figuring by the time I get my license it will be jacket weather and can tote around my full-size 1911 for a while.
You guys have your plans in order for when you get your plastic?

Well, I'm a lefty and primarily a C&R military rifle guy, so I was looking for reliable + accurate + ambi + cheap + 03 FFL. I've got a CZ-82 (9mm Makarov, 12+1) that I really like, that I'd put about 1000 rounds thru before I signed up for the course/test. I shot 247/250 on the qualifying test with it, even though it's been about 40 years since basic pistol in the military (well, I did shoot Expert after a week). Now I'm looking into tuckable holsters so I don't have to wear 'over' clothing or whatever it's called. I also have a PA-63 (7+1) that's more concealable, but it came with righty grips that I've got to change out.
I chuckled when I saw the "Wally Walk" right-of-passage described on this site. I suppose I'll have to do that.
I'm on my way to a Long Island, NY wedding this weekend. I'll look for every opportunity to make the upcoming CHL a topic of conversation (it's a Texas thang."), but with a father-in-law a retired NYPD sergeant and my nephew the grooom as a court officer, I may not get as much amusement out of those conversations as I anticipate.

When did DPS receive your info. I am still waiting for up date on mine. My paper work got in DPS hands on 10/06/11. I hope there is a up date tomorrow.

i mailed it off on 03OCT - i forgot to get it tracked and delivery conformation because i was super excited to get it mailed off (good thing it didn't get lost with all my personal information) so idk when it actually got there, but i'm assuming 2 days? anyways, i checked my status right when I woke up today at 0830 and it said:

its a very exciting feeling to see updates but i learned that they update people at the same time and mostly people witht he same time frame. once you have the plastic all waiting is forgotten. enjoy and welcome to the waiting room
